For boots, the standard recommendations are the Clarks Desert Boot and Katahdin Engineer Boots. There are additional recommendations in the sidebar.

Plain tees are great if they fit well. People here seem to like Mossimo tees from Target, but the best choice really depends on your body type. Just try a bunch of different brands to figure out what works on your build.

Yeah I mean darker brown should be alright.

It's such a MFA cliche and I feel like I'm on MFA circlejerk even for saying it, but have you looked at Clarks Desert Boots? They're like the staple shoe for what you want. They can be dressed up, dressed down, pretty much a do it all shoe that's cheap.

And be warned: they're going to strike you as ugly when you look at them. But remember, you wear them with pants, so they're going to look more like this when you actually try to wear them. I had an aversion to them when I started getting into fashion, but when I finally tried on a pair I loved them.

I haven't seen these non-ironically recommended here in a while but if you want something different than sneakers then Clark's Desert Boots in beeswax. Still very casual but a little dressier than sneakers.

Otherwise gray suede Vans Authentics.

Clark Dessert Boots in Beeswax are great with dark jeans.

If you want something different, Allen Edmonds makes great shoes (I really love the McAllisters).

I'm looking for my first pair of brown leather boots. I've seen a ton of recommendations since I've started reading MFA just over a week ago, but am having trouble pulling the trigger. I'm looking for something versatile... Something that looks nice, but keeping the tough look about them. I'm mostly looking to pair with raw denim and button downs, or v-necks.

Here are the few I've narrowed the search down to:

To Boot Kilburn in Koala

Redwing 6" Moc - Copper Rough

Redwing Iron Rangers - Hawthorne

Clark Desert Boot in Beeswax

Any help to sway my decision?
