I have this one, and I quite like it.

It came with a few needles, but fits up to 3 standard needles as well. You can adjust the handle part so the needles are short or long. I also have a wood one that holds up to 5 - I bought it locally, but I find the needles are too far apart, so I rarely use it.

I'm following to see what other people suggest for mats.

I don't actually know what it's called. It's basically a handheld pen kinda thing with tiny needles on it.

You might just need to keep at it, it always takes longer than I think it should. As for needles, it tends to go faster if you use a bunch of needles at once like with this thing. You use the three needles for larger stuff and then can switch it out to use one needle when you need to do detail.

Both of you are going to love it!! Between that and my Cliver felting tool needle felting is so much easier. If you don't have one of these I highly recommend it too!

Needle Felting Tool

My goal for the new year is to try new things - can be anything from trying new foods, going to new places and trying new crafts.

On my wishlist under Craft Supplies, I have this tool to start Needle Felting. It's a new craft that I've never tried and I want to learn how to do it. I love crafting and this one looks to be so interesting with some really great projects. This tool would really help me get started as I have some wool roving and can use YouTube videos to help me learn what I'm doing!

As a former anime nerd I have snooped and found some age appropriate potential gifts (I don't know what she's seen though!)

Here is the Jolteon pattern. This was a ton of fun to make. If/when you make it, don't be scared off by learning to felt like it recommends in the pattern. I put this project away for months because it scared me off, but once I sat down and just did it, it was very, very easy and the results are more refined than just cutting out felt and gluing it on (IMHO).

If you are interested in felting I recommend this starting kit. It's cheap, it has everything you need, and it comes with needles. If you feel the need for a tool to hold the sharp needles, I personally recommend this. Then for every other project you make with crochet, you can finish it off with felting! I've been felting on many of my projects now and I just love the finished look it gives.

Hi :) I'm new too.

I like sculpture and "traditional" 2D art. I write too, but I don't share a lot of it. For the other stuff, I mostly do sculpture now but I've done a lot of drawing/painting.

This page has pictures of 3 of my pieces. I've been doing 2D stuff since I was way little, and a little sculpture but I'm an art student right now so I've been doing much more sculpture.

I just learned how to needle felt, which is basically poking a ball of loose wool with a needle tool 'til you make something. So this needle tool would be cool. :) As would this wool. Third, this canvas would rock because I want to try some sculptural stuff mounted on canvas :)
