I do the same. My car also has a fairly flat seat and I bought it for this reason. So where the seat meets the back is almost at a 90 degree angle and not 45.
Cars with seats that dip towards the back making my hips lower than my knees hurt my hips.

I find it takes the pressure off my tailbone and helps me sit at the right angle. It also adds a bit of softness.
