Nice! You may wanna check out the Dark Horse comics Conan run. It just ended and was acquired by Marvel. Kurt Busiek’s run was phenomenal and Cary Nord’s art during this run was breathtaking IMO! I highly recommend!!

I can't think of anyone who does realism like Alex Ross (if that is what you're asking). But I would like to suggest the Conan series by by Kurt Busiek (Author). Link It's one of those books that I pull off the shelf and say, "look at the realism of these drawings."

One of my favorite comic artists is Eduardo Risso. He has a very distinct style. It isn't realism like Ross, yet his panels are very purposeful, noir and versatile. I've been reading comics for a very long time and I've come to appreciate his artwork more than others.

I stopped reading comics a few years ago, so my info will be quite outdated but as far as i know the following series spawned a comic book adaption: Conan, Elric of Melnibone, Dragonlance and the Legend of Drizzt.
