> After scraping a savings together the past couple years where I could, I settled on a budget of $3,500. ... . When I build, I build with longevity in mind and I'll pack a little more oomph to keep the power curve as level as I can while the tech keeps slipping further into the future at faster than my wallet can handle acutely.
I have to warn you about two things:
In this build you are using a lot of money on the Headphones and the keyboard, the expensive power supply and fans and the case. All of these might be nice to have, but they won't make the performance of the build any better and give it a longer lifetime. Move those down a notch and you will pay signifantly less:

Add to this like 1 case fan, a cheaper keyboard like https://www.amazon.com/Plugable-Mechanical-Enthusiasts-Backlighting-Double-shot/dp/B01MA6O13L and a cheaper headset like https://www.amazon.com/CORSAIR-Void-Wireless-Gaming-Headset/dp/B0748N6796/ (you don't need no DAC) and you save more than $1000 without reducing the lifetime of the build at all.

Wireless for only $20 more
If you're going wireless, I highly recommend the Corsair Void. I got a pair of these on sale in summer 2016 and they are still the best headset I've ever used.
Update the current model is on sale for $75
I'm definitely not an audiophile, I actually rarely ever listen to music but I do spend 4-6hrs a day gaming or watching tv/movies. Before I did much research I fell into the trap of buying a gaming headset and bought the wireless Corsair Void RGB 7.1 surround sound. They're not bad especially for the price ($45 from a coworker) but lately I've been wanting to invest into something that gives me more of a competitive advantage in fps games with a better soundstage.
I bought the Open-Back Virtual 7.1 Sennheiser 373D which I've been using for the past week and have been liking. The open back experience wasn't a huge change for me but it's still a quality headset I believe. With blackfriday sales going on I've also been looking at the HyperX Cloud II's on sale for $65 and the Arctis 7's for $100. I know people say not to use virtual 7.1 but I really do find it helps in locating players who may be above or below you in a building.
Alternatively, I just recently discovered modmic which opens up the possibility for more audiophile headphones since I was against a desktop mic before and was considering trying out Beardynamic DT990 or a nicer pair of open-back Sennheiser like the HD6xx or similar.

They are at $65. I own the wired version and they are really good for the price.
they make wired and wireless. Obviously wired is cheaper but wireless is still within in your $100 budget. In fact on sale for $80 right now.

Speakers: Edifier R1280DB.
Go with 2.0 bookshelf speakers, not 2.1 computer speakers. These have Bluetooth, optical, and coax. Oh, and they sound amazing.
Headphones are tricker. Will you also be using them with a console or a phone at any point? Want to keep them on while running to get a cup of tea or take a leak? Do you play FPS's?
You have few different options:
Convenience be damned you want awesome audio quality above all else.
Wireless PC and PS4.
Gaming headphones.
i bought the corsair void zero wireless and the freedom of no cables is great.
It was this one. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0748N6796/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 My friend has it and claims its the best headset he's ever owned.

I got these on sale for like $50. They work really well.
Wireless was a priority for me, and given that, I got the Corsair Void Pro. I'm quite happy with the purchase and they sound worlds better than the ultra-cheap RCA wireless headset I had before.
Just a warning, though... if you want wireless, do NOT get bluetooth wireless headsets. There's a noticeable delay that is totally unsuitable for gaming.
These are pretty good, a friend of mine had them, and he sounds pretty good. CORSAIR VOID PRO RGB Wireless Gaming Headset - Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound Headphones for PC - Discord Certified - 50mm Drivers - Carbon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0748N6796/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_DNMVAbCQET7GJ

Honestly, I love my Corsair Void Pros. You could go with this combination if you want a dedicated microphone although the void pros do come with a built in mic (not as good as the blue snowball obviously)

I use the corsiar void rgb wireless https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0748N6796?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf
I'd recommend [Corsair Void](https://www.amazon.com/CORSAIR-Void-Wireless-Gaming-Headset/dp/B0748N6796). They're not "audiophile" headphones, but they perform very well imo. You can clearly hear sounds in game, and music comes through quite clearly as well.

The Hyper Cloud II Gaming is a great choice for this price range.
I personally have the Corsair Void Pro Wireless and would really recommend it if you are looking for a wireless Headset!
I'd avoid Astro, personally. They're pretty overhyped. If you want wireless, I'd personally suggest the SteelSeries Arctis 7 or Corsair Void Wireless. They seem to be the best wireless headsets available currently. I believe the Arctis headset may have better build quality and sturdiness, but it's probably a fair bit heavier and it's $50 more expensive.
Void Pro RGB Wireless for $100 and the G933 Artemis Spectrum for $140
Best buy has a shitload of headsets on sale as well.
