Yeah, that book would be fine actually. Species counterpoint is covered in the Fux and Mann books as well, but it's fallen out of fashion in many conservatories. A more modern approach would be the Kennan as it focuses on 18^th century counterpoint as opposed to 16^th century methods. There's also a workbook available as a supplement. I suppose if you're okay with being tethered to your computer you could forego the purchase of the books I mentioned, but if I could only own one counterpoint book it would probably be the Kennan. There's something to be said for a real book. I find it nice to be able to crack open a music book and write my exercises right next to it on staff paper — much less clumsy than having to push my computer aside and having to reach over and scroll around. Whatever feels natural to you, though.
