The purpose of the common market is to bring each countries regulatory systems into parity so they can better trade with each other. Is it a surprise to anyone that they like to standardise things? That's not an assault on democracy, and it doesn't mean a passport is not British.

Tell me, who actually issued your passport? Who did you have to ask for one, who can give you one, and who can take it away? Was it the European Commission in Brussels, or was it the Home Office in London?
