It's an eyelet setter.

I have one exactly like this.

I really like your wheel idea, if you want to make up prototypes for that you can use a Crop-A-Dile (link below). You could do multiple wheels that spin on one card so that different abilities can level up independently. Additionally, you can have a single hero card and then a hero deck that goes along with each hero. As they gain level's, they can draw cards from their hero deck that represent new skills or increased ability scores.

The eyelet tool will press them itself. The eyelets are made of 2 different parts. When punching the hole it will do the eyelet job at the same time.

As fat as the hole placing, lucky for you, the off-white vibe definitely doesn't require perfect symmetry. You can actually do completely different placings in each shoe and people will assume it's a styling thing lol.

They do require an eyelet setter. You can get a cheap one at Walmart for under $5 but if you think you might get into it I can't recommend the crop a dile enough! It lets you do multiple sizes and types of eyelets and gives superior results.

I love eyelets!! I'm a big fan of brads too.

That's exactly what I did!

Based on the thread I ended up using (strong upholstery thread), even smaller eyelets would have worked.

You could also use something like THIS but you would be stuck with the same size/shape tag for every batch and would have to make sure to line it up correctly when punching out an already-printed sheet of tags.

It'd be a lot more work, but could you DIY? Print at Staples or something, cut, and use a grommet/eyelet press thingy, something like this?

Yeah, we used the full fledged version, http://www.amazon.com/We-Memory-Keepers-Crop-A-Dile-Eyelet/dp/B001EWPYXG/ref=sr_1_1?s=arts-crafts&ie=UTF8&qid=1410923180&sr=1-1&keywords=Crop+a+dile , as we needed to punch hold and then add hole "rivets".

PITA, thank god we only had 1 wedding. :P
