Unless the person meant that it's a 3.5 inch slot versus the 2.5 inch standard SSD size which would need a tray to hold it.

Okay, your motherboard has 6 SATA 6Gb/s ports for hard disks, included SSD SATA models, but you don't have support for SSD M.2 type.

Here you can find good SSD SATA brands and models. You can get a lower capacity one for spend less money.

And for mount it in your case, you should get something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-2-5-3-5-Adapter-Bracket/dp/B00GN9WC3A (or similar... brand doesn't matter, this is just an example)

Because SSD disks are (in my knowledge) mostly 2.5-inch size an old or cheap pc cases has only the traditional 3.5-inch bay.
