I have this kit and it is Hynix CJR. If you want Micron E-die, I would just get the Crucial Ballistix 3000 CL15 from amazon. They all clock to 3600 CL16 anyways with some tweaking.
Should I buy these or the Crucial Ballistix Sport LT AES kit to pair with a r5 3600? I know this is $30 cheaper but I heard the crucial kit can be overclocked to 3733mhz cl17 or 3600 cl16 which are supposedly the optimal configurations for ryzen 3000. Does the performance gains of the crucial kit justify the $30 price increase?

I would get e-die before this any day. I've never seen an e-die kit not hit 3600 CL16 on Ryzen 3000. It's almost guaranteed. I got mine to 3733 CL16 at 1.35v with a 3600x

I worked out a 3600 build for my buddy and I ended up getting these which are posted around here pretty often, and can apparently OC up to 3600CL16. At that time these patriots were $140ish. I would have seriously considered these up for him at this price point.
That said, there are a lot of mixed reviews on these. Some people hit the advertised timings no problem, others can't do it at all. That's what swayed me away from these, so YMMV I guess.

I would get a 3600 not a 3600X, stock 3600 is already perfect and if you need to you can overclock it to reach 3600X speeds.
For ram I would get at least 3200Mhz16CL, with 3600Mhz16Cl being the best option, but not necessary. There is a Cruicial Ballistix LT 3000Mhz15CL ram that can be easily overclocked to 3600Mhz16CL, I will look for a link.
3fan GPU is fine, especially if your gonna oc it. 2 fan GPU is good too, just might be slightly louder but tbh I can’t hear my fans over the game volume (which is usually set to medium to low volume)
If you play a lot of AAA games you might need a bigger SSD, as AAA games tend to be larger in size. If you are mainly gaming you could forego and HDD and get a bigger SSD

sata ssds haven't gone down in pricing in a meaningful way for the past year, they are still around ~110$ for 1tb and samsung likes to charge their tax on top of that too..
instead, you can get nvme ssds such as this or this for the same price..
their performance and warranty is equivalent to a samsung 970 evo, if not better.. and are miles faster than a sata ssd...
RAM: while the one you picked is 3600mhz, it's running at cl18 the memory latency will be same versus a kit running at 3200/cl16 or 3000/cl15.
get these crucial ballistix sticks instead, you can overclock them way beyond their rated speeds (Search for E-Die overclocking on the web to see approximate results) make sure they have "AES" in the model name and you're 100% guaranteed to have E-Die sticks.
CPU Cooler: while noctua is great and all , i personally think the NH-U12S is a waste of money at that price point, just use the stock cooler that comes with your ryzen cpu for a while and save those 70$ towards a noctua nh-u12a or a Noctua NH-D15 (Comes in black variant too now).
Motherboard: can't really recommend one , but instead i urge you to to look at this am4 motherboard list here they all have their own pros and cons, nothing is perfect :^)

This is the most popular one, YMMV on exact overclock, but Id wager that on most Zen2 CPUs and motherboards, this kit could clock 3600CL16 with better subtimings than the MFR kit, but that might depend on DDR4 overclocking skills.
The posted MFR kit is a better idea if you want a painless 3600CL16 for Ryzen without having to manually tweak.

But Micron rev e-die is a very close behind in second place. And due to ryzen 3000 not worth going above 3800 mhz due to the FLCK, then micron rev e-die is more than enough.

BLS2K8G4D30AESBK - It means it's guaranteed to be micron rev e die.
It's on the 3000 mhz cl15 and 3200 mhz cl16 - can very easily be overclocked. 3600 cl14 and 3800 mhz cl16 can be done relatively easy.
Not really a fan of Vengeance LPX, but the price is hard to argue with. I'd probably pay £3.40 for Ballistix LT over this though.

Asked a similar question yesterday, but this time a little more specific and since the Reddit search feature is junk, I thought I would ask. I have a 3600x and a B450 Tomahawk MAX. Does anyone have any experience with the Crucial Ballistix kits that get linked in here often? Mainly this 3000MHz CL15 or the 3200MHz CL16? I don't mind tinkering if I can get these up to 3600CL16. Just wondering if one has the advantage over the other, disregarding price difference. I figure worst case I end up with 3200CL16 out of the box if I go with the second. Thanks.

I would go for Ballistix 3000 CL15 ram which has micron e-die for around same price . Load xmp profile, then bump up to 3200mhz for easy overclock.
The motherboard manufacturers have that memory "compatibility" chart on there because that is the highest memory that 1st gen ryzen supported, it largely doesn't matter what number is there and that's up to your processor's memory controller as to how high you can clock.

No, the best bang for the buck would easily be Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 3000 Cl15, because they overclock very nicely, almost as good as b-die, for much less. Link here
The corsair kit you mentioned wouldn't overclock as well at all, so I don't consider it "bang for the buck" because you're paying for considerably more performance with the kit I mentioned. These sticks routinely hit over 4000mhz, and will easily hit the 3433-3600 your ryzen 2600 is maximally capable of. For gaming though, timings are the most important imo.

3000mhz cl15 SR on Amazon. I hear the 3200 cl16 uses the same slightly better binned e-die single rank, but I went for the cheaper one because I can find more reliable info on that. Don't get the 3000 cl16. That's likely not micron e-die.
Single channel memory will hold you back, but the difference in practical use is less than some people would think. It's on the order of 10% or so except for certain games and software. Examples of outliers include Hitman 2 or Counterstrike: GO, 7-Zip compression software, etc. Those can see increases of +30-50% vs a single channel setup. An example of a less sensitive program is Cinebench, where you may see only a 1-5% difference.
That said, memory kits are pretty reasonably priced right now and you could jump to a 2x8GB DDR4-3000 kit for $66 if you're in the US. With the frequency increase and moving to dual channel mode, you'll see around a 15% difference on average in games and applications - noticeable.

If you're willing to overclock, I'll throw out the obligatory recommendation for the Crucial Ballistix Sport, specifically one of the 3000cl15 or 3200cl16 variants with 'AES' in the model number such as this. Uses Micron E-die, which people regularly get to 3600+ at cl16 or even 14 on Ryzen, quite a few topics regarding this RAM if you want to look into it.

In adding more ram, the most important detail is your current ram. You want them to be as close a match in performance as possible. If the cas latency, and timings line up, you'd likely be okay. But no guarantee. Compatibility it usually tested in matched sets.

Since you got a Ryzen 3000 CPU, there's some e-die RAM that can easily reach 3600Mhz at CL16 and it's $98 right now.

Looking at grabbing this and depending on my budget a 580 for graphics. I plan to dabble in iracing and some other games. This is my budget build (first pc build) so I’m pretty excited.
A few quick comments:
I'm not knowledgeable enough about the rest of the parts to say much more.
How did you guys decide your CPU is broken ? CPUs rarely break. Try updating your BIOS to see if the issue continues and monitor your CPU temperatures. 5 year old CLCs don't provide anywhere as close to 1st day performance due to evaporation of the coolant in the closed loop.
New system looks alright but B450 board might require a BIOS update and an old CPU to be compatible with 3rd gen Ryzen CPU.
Avoid Corsair RAM kits for Ryzen, they tend to be Hynix DIMMs which doesn't perform as well as most other ICs. Go for something like this Crucial Ballistix Sport LT kit (AES Code), it should perform well on Ryzen with an easy overclock since it's a Micron E-die kit, they generally do 3600C16 fine.
The build looks a lot less "big = good" now that I know you're planning to edit with it. Default assumption is gaming.
Video and music editing scales way better with more cores than gaming. Very few games are optimized for more than 6 cores rn, most are still optimized for 4. Editing programs can use in the dozens of cores effectively. With that in mind the choice to get a 3700x is respectable. What is around the cpu still needs some slight tweaking tho.
The cpu cooler is okay. It's one of the best air coolers you can get, and will keep your cpu cool if you're putting it under high stress for a long time. I don't know if you will, but better safe than sorry? You could take my previous recommendation or stick with the stock cooler, but if you know that the programs you're running are going to be highly stressing your cpu and you want to play it safe there are other options. Get the dark rock pro 4 over the Noctua if you decide to get a beefy air cooler. It's another one of the best air coolers you can get, but with a few bonuses. It's quieter and isn't a disgusting color. That being said, the stock cooler of the 3700x is actually [really good] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBQ1RUeV_oo). Worth noting that a 360mm aio destroys any of the beefy air coolers mentioned. Since the stock cooler is extremely respectable, I wouldn't buy a cpu cooler until you know if the stock cooler can handle your temps.
The gpu selection is fine, honestly. If you're rendering high resolution videos it will fall behind more expensive options but it shouldn't be huge deal. Gpus are also very easy to upgrade. If a new series comes out, sell your old gpu and buy a new one.
If you've gone beyond 16gbs before, upgrading to 32 gbs is fine. Beyond your gpu and your cpu, ram is basically the only remaining part of your pc that will impact performance. Ryzen 3000 cpus would rather have 3600mhz and tight timings than 4000+ mhz and cl 18 or some shit. The xmp profile wouldn't run in your system, but it's micron e-die, which has turned out to be great at overclocking.
So if you got this, you'd maybe be able to hit something like 2666 at c12 or c13. If you even care about this stuff. If not then anything g skill, ballistix, Corsair.
You want ram that is 2666 and when you're checking the timings smaller is better. C12 is faster than C13 for example.

There are current BIOS issues that make it perform horribly above 3000MHz (Should be fixed soon), but my ram can do 3400MHz before destabilizing, but that's probably just my ram not being a very good overclocker (Hynix MFR can typically only hit ~3333/3400), I think if I had better ram (like these Micron E-Die modules or some B-Die modules), I could probably get 3733MHz (above that you can't get very good performance because of infinity fabric)
I strongly recommend the x470 Taichi, it is an excellent board, and with VRMs powerful enough to overclock a 3950x.

and should i worry about RAM timings around this price point when dealing with DDR4 RAM from reputable brands?
Also there isn’t any notable difference between 3000MHz ram and 3200MHz. So i would choose the cheaper option.

I know my Radeon VII is NOT a Navi card.... however, my Radeon VII easily eats 300w of power (stated by the radeon control panel).... don't skimp with power supplies. get a large size, look for SALES that pc nose picker doesn't show.... I got an 850 platinum on amazon for 99.99 on sale.... normally sells for almost 200.... just look for good deals.
also, for a small fee of 10 dollars more, you can get a 2600 from amazon.... which will be BETTER than the 2400g and last a few years too. the 2600 is also 6 core 12 thread instead of 4 core 8 thread.... you ARE buying a navi gpu, no reason to NOT spend 10 dollars more for the 2600.....
IF you have a microcenter near you, get the inland 1tb nvme ssd, its better than the crucial 1tb nvme ssd and the same price.
that case is horrible for air flow.... everything is gonna run hot....

this memory is CHEAPER than your two chips.... each of your chips is 8gb for 40 bucks... 80 total. this deal, not only do you get 2 8gb chips, but its only 67 bucks... AND its DDR4 3000..... which will make your cpu run better in games and apps
pc nose picker is great for getting a generic read on what to buy, but they don't always have the best deals listed..... always shop around manually....
