not trying to rain on your parade though, i picked up one of these from amazon http://www.amazon.com/Cruiser-Accessories-79050-License-Bracket/dp/B00032K4TW/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1449020106&sr=8-11&keywords=front+mount+license+plate+holder and they also sell them at advance auto parts and that way the zip ties are hidden behind the license plate.
If it's in the stock location there will definitely be holes. Some people opt for plugs to fill the holes. They don't look too bad but still slightly visible.
I've got my front plate mounted to the side. I just bought a cheap license plate bracket and zip-tied it to the bumper. The plate covers the ties so it's easily removable and doesn't hurt the bumper.
I just ordered one of these and will just zip tie it to the grill.
