I'd ask your sister what happened (and never let her borrow your stuff again...)

If all else fails, use a circle pad cover.

>I've seen those plastic things that go over the pad, but you can't close your DS with one on!

Mine is a Cybergadget Circle Pad Cover (slim type). I can close my N3DS XL perfectly with it.

u/brokenskullzero · 5 pointsr/MonsterHunter

its just a problem with the 3ds originally not having any "right stick" if nintendo designed the 3ds to have dual circle pads, it would be one of the best gaming experiences

on mine, I use this along with the psp cap mod

https://www.amazon.com/Monster-Hunter-Cross-hunting-gear-Nintendo/dp/B016XCSBC2

Feels good for medium and large hands and makes the shoulders feel like the dual shock 2 r2/l2. though only for New 3ds XL models

this too

I ordered these grips that you put on the circle pad which prevents thumbs from slipping, and it can be very helpful for intense games like Smash Bros.

These arent the same exact ones I got, but its more or less identical: https://www.amazon.ca/Cyber-Premium-Slide-Cover-Clear/dp/B00UURTXK6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1502851159&sr=8-2&keywords=3ds+circle+pad

Buy these for grip. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00UURTXK6?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

They just clip onto the top of your circle pad.

I just bought them and they seem to work well for grip. Make sure you put them on CORRECTLY, otherwise they will fall off. I use the one with the dots on my N3DSXL. My circle pad was slippery as well. This is a huge improvement.

u/TheRadGasm · 3 pointsr/3DS

I was having a lot of problems with circle pad slipperiness, so I invested in these: Cyber Premium Slidepad Cover. It just sticks to your OEM circle pad with a little bit of double-sided tape. Also five stars.

As a bonus, I'm using the Monster Hunter Cross Hunting Gear grip. It's really outstanding for avoiding Fantasy Life and Kid Icarus Uprising cramps.

u/qua2k · 3 pointsr/3DS

You can buy small grips that go over the circle pad

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UURTXK6/

Think they even have different colors.

This would solve both sliding off your finger due to sweat and will hide the bump that OP has.

u/tam1997reddit · 3 pointsr/3DS

That's weird, cause I bought that from Amazon too

Here the link : https://www.amazon.com/Cyber-x30FB-Premium-Slide-Cover-Clear/dp/B00UURTXK6/ref=dp_ob_title_vg

I tried roughing the surface on mine as I found games unplayable with the default circle pad. It only helped marginally. The caps are a godsend and the best solution.

u/Zanzkebar · 2 pointsr/3DS

These are the best ones I've used. They're a little pricey, but they work really well.

Don't buy a new controller, clean/ fix your existing one. It will cost a lot less (~15$) and you will be able to clean/fix all of your other controllers as well. May sound weird because I'm telling you to fix your existing one but don't buy replacement joysticks... the rubber will just fall off on those too... =[ Ive wasted some $ on shitty "replacement" joysticks that don't even last a day. Buy 1 pack of these [ **.com/Cyber-%E3%83%BBPremium-Slide-Cover-Clear-Black/dp/B00UURTXK6/ref=sr_1_1?s=instant-video&ie=UTF8&qid=1479033751&sr=8-1&keywords=3ds+circle+pad+cover ] and glue it to your joystick. I used an epoxy resin because i figured it would do the best gluing plastic on plastic but super glue would probably work too. You should still buy a tri-wing screwdriver [ ***.com/Gen-Lite-Tri-Wing-Triwing-Screwdriver-Tool/dp/B000VPBYS6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1479034061&sr=8-1&keywords=triwing+screwdriver ] and some wet-wipes to get inside the controller and clean up a bit. Mine works like brand new but even better because the joystick will never wear down. I'll never part with my original orange GC controller >.<

I guess the moderators dont want people posting links so they deleted my original post... lol anyways just replace "****" with "https://www.amazon" if you want to see those items

u/JamesIsNotMyName · 1 pointr/3DS

I bought these, however they are a bit pricey for what they are, and I only really use one of them. But there isn't too much of a solution elsewhere from what I've found.

u/MUViT · 1 pointr/3DS

I ordered these pad covers shortly after I bought my 3DS - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00UURTXK6

Works like a charm, although some buyers are having issues with the covers themselves slipping off the pad. In that case try using super glue if you don't mind having a semi-permanent accessory.

u/amphrosdragon · 1 pointr/3DS

They actually sell replacements on Amazon for the rubber piece for those inclined

Is there any analog stick cover like this for the New 3DS XL but that I can close the 3DS completely?

u/Anyepi · 1 pointr/3DS

The grey cover of the circle pad of my n3ds xl is coming off, I saw this
https://www.amazon.com/Cyber-x30FB-Premium-Slide-Cover-Clear/dp/B00UURTXK6/ref=dp_ob_title_vg should I buy this?

u/spentthedayonreddit · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

For OP or anyone else interested: You can buy covers that just fall into place over the existing circle pad.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UURTXK6/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_xkf9wbM8QZ216

I have these on my N3DSXL and my fiancé's O3DS and they work well.

Though, the price went up since I bought them at $4.

You get like 6 grips though, so give them to your friends! Or when they shamelessly beat you at Pokemon because they discovered EVs while you didn't, Jared.

These are the ones that I bought a few months back.

The ones you linked were slightly more expensive than the ones I bought, so I avoided them. Ergo, I can't vouch for them :/. The ones I linked are pretty good though! Definitely an improvement, although the thumb slips will still happen after an hour or two of play. I highly recommend keeping some sort of small towel on standby just to wipe off the sticks and your hands in between hunts.

u/VenusFurs · 1 pointr/3DS

If your circle pad actually still works and it's just the rubber cover that peeled off, i wouldn't risk opening up the console just to replace it.

Instead, you can grab one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Cyber-%E3%83%BBPremium-Slide-Cover-Clear-Black/dp/B00UURTXK6/

You basically just put it above your circle pad and you should have a pretty nice grip over it.

u/TheGershon · 1 pointr/TwoBestFriendsPlay

As a fellow 3DS owner I highly recommend getting a grip accessory of some kind. I have a n3DSxl and got the official, Japan only monster Hunter grip and it's simply amazing. It's almost as good as any console controller, hopefully there's a good one for n2DSxl (I hate these acronyms). Also, I really like these circle pad covers: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UURTXK6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_WLs1CbSHQJ76G

Also also, I recommend installing cfw. It's easy to do and you get a lot of benefits that aren't just piracy like custom themes that can cycle, increasing the CPU clock speed which makes games like MGS3 3D much more playable, and installing game mods that even work with carts. No, you won't actually get banned from online unless you try to play a game online that hasn't officially been released yet (and it's still circumventable regardless)

They do fit. I have these on them. You got the older version which means they might not fit. The newer ones that i have above actually fit. I can post pics iyw

u/hellraiser29 · 0 pointsr/3DS

This is what you need. You can keep these on and close the lid as well.

u/cranmerabacus · 0 pointsr/3DS

I bought these and they arrived today; this is the newer version of the product that you purchased. I had no issues getting them on my analog slider; they may not seem to fit at first glance and first touch, as it does take a bit of pressure and force to get them to fit properly, but after applying a fair bit of pressure onto them they will go on and stay on, and they work excellently (I have an original 3DS by the way (not XL nor new). I don't know if the newer 3DS versions have bigger sliders or not, but these seem to be made for the New 3DS yet fit fine on my old, non-XL version. They are fantastic; I use the grip with the various dots on it, and it really allows me to grip the slider extremely well. I don't have to worry about my thumb sliding off of the slider as I had to do before; using these also has greatly increased the precision with which I can use the slider stick. I can now make very subtle moves of the stick very easily with the grip. All in all, I would recommend the newer version of these grips, as they have done an excellent job of increasing the control and precision I have over my slider stick and have completely eliminated the previous soreness that my thumb would have after a 3DS playing session. I think that they are a necessity for any hardcore 3DS player who plays often.
