What's even worse is that there's another prebuilt linked with this one, that is both cheaper and much better : https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HNBLHAA/ref=psdc_13896597011_t1_B01EUC7LWI

u/TRDJr · 7 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Looking at some of their products on Amazon I agree. They don't always go for i7s and pick more appropriate GPUs than some other prebuild PC companies. And when you factor in the cost of Windows they honestly aren't too outrageous pricewise compared to building it yourself.

Edit: proof

What country are you buying from? Amazon US has this one and it's not too terribly overpriced. Sorry no one else tried to help you without screaming at you to build your own. Yes it's easy guys we get it but calm the fuck down. Not everyone wants to do it.

$700, probably best cost to part machine they have. RX480, i5, 8GB, 1TB HDD. You could put in an SSD into it if you want, but will need to clone the HDD.

To build that yourself you might get a bit under that, probably not more than $50 though.

$720; when I bought it in November, it was cheaper as a prebuild than to buy everything separately (could still be the case)

The AMD RX 480 is good enough as an entry VR card. Should be good for SSE for now. (edit: it can max out pretty much every new game: SSE, Witcher3, GTA5, etc...)

I wouldn't call the rx480 high end, more of a mid range card. It will be very good at 1080p, and this build is using the stock intel cooler. Its a decent build, meets your budget, and your needs. The i5 in this build is all you need for gaming, without throttling your GPU.

u/Dom_19 · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Here $720 prebuilt, rx 480, i5 6402p. Comes with keyboard & mouse. This seems to be your best option since u can't build one.

u/Redcarrotslice · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Just realised my other pc might be a bit over budget so you could for a cyberpower pc instead, gigs of ram, terabyte hardrive, Rx 480(4gig) and a i5 6402p( max 3.4ghz) , you also get a mechanical keyboard and mouse

u/Lorben · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

There's a few good options out there for prebuilts. What you want to avoid are computers with wildly mismatched parts, like an i7 (strong CPU) and a 720 GT (near wothless graphics card). Or they'll be grossly overpriced.

This $700 PC on Amazon is a decent deal.

If you need to fit a monitor in that $700 budget I'd go with the below. The CPU is weaker, but it'll still run any game on the market.

u/drac313 · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

As far as value goes this Cyberpower has approx. the same cost to buy prebuilt as does it if you were to do it on your own. It's also in your price range, comes with keyboard and mouse, and leaves ample room for a decent 1080p monitor.

Basic computer for RS + small tasks

Amazing deal for a pretty good computer. It comes prebuilt with Windows installed (and included in the price unlike the previous link). It also has a mouse and keyboard included, as well as an AC wifi USB adapter just in case you don't want to run a cable through your house just for RS. The only down side is that it doesn't have an SSD. This computer is overkill for RS, but if you plan on playing more demanding games in the future, this will probably run them well on 1080p.

u/surg3on · 2 pointsr/totalwar

Yes it will. Load times will be long without a SSD but the game will run well all other times and its super easy to add a SSD later if loading drives you nutty. The CPU, its actually quite OK, functionally equivalent to a 6400 (just different integrated graphics, which you wont use).

This may be more balanced for total war https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HNBLHAA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_yGE0xb5JXPYWC but I don't know your monitor resolution you will be playing at.

While building a PC is fun for some of us I don't think the gained value (not much usually) is worth the extra effort/stress for most people.

My friend just bought a Cyberpower similar to this one: https://www.amazon.com/CYBERPOWERPC-Xtreme-GXiVR8020A-Gaming-Desktop/dp/B01HNBLHAA

It's a little different from the one he got, but this one is under 500 pounds and should run games with some pretty nice framerates. He likes his PC, the only issue is the CPU is a tad bit on the weak side but it should still hold up.

Also, we live in America so I hope the PC is available in your region as well. Hope this helps.

EDIT: Also, Dan's PC is insane and has two Titan X GPUs, which are around $1000 EACH, so you're not getting anywhere close to that for 500 pounds.

I bought a pre-built PC tower , (currently out of stock since it sold so well, and I don't doubt they will make more) 3 months ago and it cost $719. I can run it up to 95 fps, minimum is 50-65 on 1080p High. Free mouse and keyboard is a bonus, but I suggest replacing them.

I am considering building my own PC, but I am a novice. I just saw this system on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HNBLHAA/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

Will that be sufficient to play games such as CS:GO, Black Ops 3, and other FPS games at 1080p on high settings? I am coming from Xbox One to PC, so even if I have to play on medium settings to maintain 60fps (60hz refresh rate on monitor) it will still be a significant improvement and I will be happy. The system linked is at the very limit of my budget. I would need a copy of Windows 10, a keyboard and mouse if I were to build a system myself.

For $720, is that system beatable if I build it myself and use the same or comparable parts?

So, I recently bought this computer off of Amazon:

Thanks!

I have been having issues with my case fans. I'm not sure the size of the fans but they are raidmax fans. They came with my pre built pc that I bought in 2016. I have had this issue for a while where they will stop spinning and in order for me to fix them I put sewing machine oil in them and the fix will last for ~3 days. I did get new ones from cyberpower but those ended up crapping out too. I want to buy some new case fans for my pc, fans that are reliable and that will last me a long time. They don't need to be RGB. I don't have a budget for case fans so I would like to purchase the best most reliable ones. Thanks to anyone that can help me. (This is a link to the pc I bought. I could not find any info on the size of the fans on there or in the manual so hopefully someone can tell just by looking at it.)

RuneScape doesn't play too nicely with AMD GPUs right now - I'd suggest an Nvidia skewed desktop.

But then again RuneScape can do well enough with just an Intel Pentium and a GTX 750 ti, so $500 desktops aren't too hard to find for it.

u/officer21 · 1 pointr/buildmeapc

The monitor is worth about $80, the headset about $40, the keyboard about $60, mouse is between $20 and $60 depending on the type, CPU + motherboard is probably about $200, 650 ti is about $50. That leaves the case, power supply, storage, and any add ons like a wifi card.

definitely not worth it. You can buy a prebuilt with an i5 6400 and an rx 480 for about that price.

(its a 6402P, so slightly faster than a 6400)

Also, it sells used for $630, which would leave you a little $$ for peripherals.

Dunno CyberpowerPC gives 1 year party warranty, how much is the store going to give you for that i7 system?

Usually GPU and CPU have about 3 years warranty, rest of the part usually ranges from 1 to 3, depending on brand/model.

But I get the bad mojos from that i7-3770 and the motherboard its using, now is it a BIG or a SMALL store?

  1. Its used equipment and they've putted it into a new case (LOL, I know a lot of small shops do this.)

  2. Its never being used, but has being setting around for years. (If they are small store, the warranty starts the day they bought it and for example i7-3770 was released 2012 Q2)

If you REALLY must have an Alienware computer just get a job and buy one, but i wouldn't personally recommend it because you're just paying a few hundred for the brand.

If you have a tight budget you should look into building your own computer, /r/buildapc should be able to help you.

If you want it pre-built you should check the parts carefully and make sure you're not paying too much for mediocre parts, also don't trust everything you hear or see, for example if someone sells a piece of "premium" dirt and says it's the best thing in the world, they're probably lying. The only good pre-built PC I've seen is this.

Tilt Brush isn't especially demanding so any min-spec VR system (AMD FX and RX470 is IMO may actually be pushing the bottom end there, but I'd guess would be fine if it's just for Tilt Brush) but you'll also need to add $200 for Touch Controllers. I'll also add that (having both a Vive and Rift) that the Vive is still better for room-scale setups (better 360 tracking w/ Lighthouse, longer cable for moving around) and in the summer, will allow a $250 wireless upgrade path, although to balance that off the Rift has Quill and Medium as platform exclusives (if we're talking about art tools).

If you go w/ the Rift, then I think that system is about the cheapest you could expect to go w/o scrounging together parts. (Total cost $1200 w/ the Touch controllers.)

If you decided to go w/ a Vive, this is a better specced system for about $520 as a refurb (so $1300 w/ a new Vive): https://www.amazon.com/CYBERPOWERPC-Xtreme-GXiVR8020A-Gaming-Desktop/dp/B01HNBLHAA/

If you're really budget constrained, I'm sure you can find a VR headset on the cheap from someone who bought one but doesn't really use it (I see the average completed price listings for used Vives at $500-600 for example, a few hundred dollars cheaper than new). You should be able to buy a relatively modern CPU system (like an i5-3xxx or newer) for pretty cheap and add a VR capable GPU either an RX 480, or GTX 1060 for about $200.

I recently bought a GTX 1080Ti (Asus Strix non-oc) to pick up the slack of my RX480 on my Asus ROG Swift 2k 165hz monitor. While the jump in performance is massive, it is still a little.... could have been better? I would expect that i could play overwatch on ultra 2k 165fps+ which is often the case besides when a team fight goes down and everything is happening all at once, I find myself hitting 100fps.

Question is: could this be because of my CPU? I have an i5-6402p or something like that?
Heres a link to my PC, all I've upgraded so far is Samsung 850 evo and GTX1080ti.

When im running absolutely maxed out ultra everything in 2k, in the practice range I hit 260-300fps but once i get into a match it floats around 170fps but then when shit hits the fan i normally see 100fps. Although thats still alot of frames, my monitor is set at 165hz and i just want to max it out.

You realize VCRs once cost over $1k right? As did blu-ray players and DVD players? Plasma TVs were over $10k at one point. There was a $2500 20" TV in 1948 (extreme example I know lol). Too bad none of those products ever caught on!

>The VFX1 cost over a thousand dollars (corrected).
>So does the Rift once you include all the third camera, extension cords and USB cards you need to make it run properly. PC VR is every much in the same price range as back then. And far far away from the promise of affordable VR that got the DK1 started.

Haha you must be buying some expensive ass extension cables. You know the 3rd camera comes with one right? Mine cost like $30. I spent more than that on mounting brackets and power cable extensions for my Vive. Even if your comparison were correct, $1000 in the '95 is closer to $1600 in 2017 money. You can get a VR ready PC and a Vive for less than that today.

You are right though, VR is too expensive for the average consumer now. The thing is, that's completely normal for new tech products. They all start off expensive and come down in price over time. It's far too early for the doom and gloom. Technology will progress and prices will come down. More companies will come in offering more varied products at different price points. You'll have an entry, mid, and enthusiast market just like you do with GPUs, etc. This is already starting to happen just slowly. We're only 9 months in ffs.

I'll also agree that mobile/standalone VR will probably remain the dominant force. It will probably remain cheaper and is definitely more convenient. I don't think home VR is going anywhere anytime soon any more than PC gaming is going to disappear though. At least until far in the future when (or if) there's no discernible difference between what can be done with a mobile device vs a full size device. There will always be those who want to experience the best of the best.

Also how do you feel about this?

So this is a prebuilt cyberpower pc from amazon.

Budget is semi-flexible. Preferably under $600 if I'm only upgrading cpu and gpu.

For fair comparison, here is a decently priced pre-built. It comes with a mouse and keyboard and also Windows. It has a slower CPU, probably slower RAM but the amount is the same, a similar hard drive, but a slightly faster video card (The RX 480 is only a tiny bit faster than a stock RX 470). Motherboard also seems to be more or less the same. It comes in a larger case and mentions nothing about the PSU at all. You are more or less garunteed to have a much lower quality PSU, but I can't find any information on it.

Overall, it's not a bad computer, but it's not better than the builds I have shown you, it's not exactly the form factor you want (but I wouldn't call it large) and it costs more without being better, but it's not that much more expensive.

u/There-is · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Hey, I decided to look up a bit, and this prebuilt seems pretty decent. The PSU is rate 80+ Bronze but it's from a company I've never heard of. Better than nothing though. Also it's a lot cheaper than what you were going for with an arguably better GPU.

Probably not the best, but add an ssd and you're set- cost $720-
prebuilt
.The GPU- what it can handle.

Thanks, I was on the fence about the CPU as well.

What about this?

Not super sold on building atm but it is in the back of my mind as something to try

There's a cyberpower pc with an i5 6402p and rx 480 that's less than $800 that's spot on for 1080p gaming

If you want a prebuilt, I think a better deal could be a $720 Cyberpower PC Gamer Xtreme VR

Alternatively, you can buy a used Xeon workstation and add a $199 GTX 1060 3GB. It will be under $500 total. Mine was $570 total (with a GTX 1060 6GB, 7.9 on VR readiness test).

That's a very good deal except for the GPU, it's a low range low power GPU. According to several benchmarks, the integrated graphics are better but in some CPU intensive games such as CS:GO or LoL, it performs better with a discrete card. Down the line, if you can afford it, you should replace the GPU with a mid range card such as the RX series from AMD or anything GTX 960 above.

If you can save up, you would be better off with this computer as the CPU and GPU are more balanced and it comes with a Wifi card. The i5 6402p performs wonderfully in games and the RX 480 is the perfect card to complement it. For example, on GTA V, at ultra settings, it's able to play at a consistent 80 FPS.

Gamestop has the i7 R1 Steam machine (No windows) for $375, $275 for the i3. Didn't see the i5 which I think might be the better value out of the 3.

Frankly, having owned this machine for about 6 months I'll be either building my own, or buying something larger next time, and I paid $250 for a new Alpha i3. For instance I'd buy this: https://www.amazon.com/CYBERPOWERPC-Xtreme-GXiVR8020A-Gaming-Desktop/dp/B01HNBLHAA/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1484393167&sr=1-1&keywords=cyberpowerpc before the R2.

I just got this, which passes the steam vr test and runs vive fine. On sale at this writing for $699. I paid $720. Apparently the cost of the components is around $800 so to buy it assembled with warranty is a good deal. Awesome price, great build. Its cheaper to buy this prebuilt than to buy the same specs and build it yourself.
