Calm down bro, have you actually read the Mattis Memo? The restrictions are literally comparable to any other personal thing that may effect a soldiers deployment ability. Mattis cares about the troops and their combat readiness.

My recruitment package got dropped once Mattis released his statement on trans service members. If you are willing to stop T for 3 years, have zero gender-confirming surgeries and serve as a female, you'd be able to enlist. Here's the official requirements from the Pentagon with the qualifiers below.

"Transgender persons with a history or diagnosis of gender dysphoria are disqualified from military service, except under the following limited circumstances: ( 1) if they have been stable for 36 consecutive months in their biological sex prior to accession; (2) Service members diagnosed with gender dysphoria after entering into service may be retained if they do not require a change of gender and remain deployable within applicable retention standards; and (3) cunently serving Service members who have been diagnosed with gender dysphoria since the previous administration's policy took effect and prior to the effective date of this new policy, may continue to serve in their preferred gender and receive medically necessary treatment for gender dysphoria.

Transgender persons who require or have undergone gender transition are disqualified from military service.

Transgender persons without a history or diagnosis of gender dysphoria, who are otherwise qualified for service, may serve, like all other Service members, in their biological sex."

So your only source is the un-sourced statement issued by the White House Press Secretary in defense of the new policy. Looking into the decision itself, the memo upon which it was based, and the study upon which the memo was based from the DoD, the justification is tedious at best and recommends a menial and pedantic (why 18 to 36 months change in accession for demonstrating Gender Dysmorphia? It's buried in the footnotes and I can get back to it later, but the lack of a clear statement and likely referral to vague decisions earlier based on even more vague data is glaring) change to existing policy justifying the absurd political rhetoric. Thanks for the quick google, but I was wondering if you'd actually engaged the research, not whether you'd engaged the broadcast-comment-section.

> Having homosexuals serve in the military is different than having a group of people who have a 50(!!!!)% suicide rate.

You don't seem to understand the difference between allowing transsexuals to serve and allowing all of them to serve. 50% suicide rate means 50(!!!)% don't commit suicide.

>and the military isn't the place for participation trophies.

No one said it was. If transgenders are a problem, then why did Mattis recommend exemptions to the ban?

There was a study conducted by SecDef in 2017, I don’t have a link available but it’s a quick google and was sent to all services. It visibility demonstrated a reduce in cost, reduction of lethality, and several scientific studies with in.

Democracy is mob rule, we don’t have that. If we had a democracy HRC would be president as she has more votes. We empower smaller states through the electoral college and balance our government around 3 branches of government. Democracy isn’t mentioned in the constitution a republic is, it’s even on the pledge of allegiance, “for which the republic stands”. It’s not semantics it’s the understanding of government, the US does not operate under democracy rule, short hand for constitutional republic is incorrect.

Edit: Here’s the link for SecDefs Memo https://partner-mco-archive.s3.amazonaws.com/client_files/1521897476.pdf and the study https://partner-mco-archive.s3.amazonaws.com/client_files/1521898539.pdf.

The study calls out multiple areas of concern, lethality, unit cohesion and cost, I hope you read through it because the findings are quite clear.

I guess because you are going to copy pasta a bunch of Wiki here I can provide you with the actual memo from Trump and then the [memo] (https://partner-mco-archive.s3.amazonaws.com/client_files/1521897476.pdf) from Maddis and then the [45 page document that references the DSM-5 and how the RAND study was flawed] ( https://partner-mco-archive.s3.amazonaws.com/client_files/1521898539.pdf).

They came to the right decision on this one.
