Just a suggestion for your friend, I find pony beads to be amazing. You can either make her little characters on keychains (sensory take alongs) or let her make her own bracelets/necklaces/chains (etc). I have a girl who is very visually impaired (I think she's only able to tell light/dark) and she loved when we did an activity with pony beads. I made a little puppy out of pony beads and my brother loves to carry it around the house.
