After a few days of waiting, I got my key for Dishonored from Gamersgate a few days ago. I'm about 4 hours in, and really enjoying it. I'm trying for an all non-lethal game but not going back if I have to kill a few guards. It's quite fun and tense to take a guard down when you know another one could turn at any minute and come after you and narrowly escape carrying the body. I've been playing it on hard even though i'm not the best stealth-er, and I think it's the sweet spot for difficulty. If I do a second playthrough I might go all-lethal, because it sounds fun as well.

Also juuust started Dark Souls as it finally went on sale now that I have a controller. What can I say? It's as tough as people say it is. Currently i'm just camping at a bonfire, re-starting basic enemies just to learn to parry so I don't keep dying. I thought it'd be frustrating to die a lot, but I think i've heard so much about it being hard, I have accepted that I will die, and I just need to try to be better... and die less.

From this thread in /r/darksouls.

It's always better with a charity tag.

>Dark Souls: Prepare To Die Edition - 7.49

Dark Souls nice and cheap? Yes please! I'll be looking forward to that. :D

u/ND1Razor · 27 pointsr/Steam

To those picking it up. It has issues but most are fixed with (tiny) mods.

  • DSFix: Fixes the resolution and other bits and bobs , needed to run other mods.
  • DSMFix: Fixes the horrible mouse targeting (which is why a controller is recommended in the first place).
  • DSCFix: Allows instant summons (co-op) with people from your (gfwl) friends list (otherwise is a hassle).

I highly recommend this game to people who like a challenge. By far the best RPG I played to date.

    Praise the sun!

Edit: It's now cheaper over on amazon - Use 'gooncave'

I'd wait for Dark Souls: Prepare To Die Edition ($7.49). I bought it and I love it, but you need a controller since it's a straightforward port, but also if you're not into first person action RPGs, then maybe Bioshock 1 and 2 ($4.99) or Batman Arkham GOTY Pack ($11.49) for action. Then there's Microsoft 5-Game Arcade/Indie Pack ($9.99) if you want to go casual (or just get Mark of the Ninja ($3.75) from it). Some people like The Storming, Burning, Reflecting, Flaming, Sabotaging Pack ($9.99).

If you like strategy games, I'd either look at the Paradox bundles or wait for X-COM and Civ V Gold because I think they'll be cheaper later this month. Oh, and there's the Sonic Action Pack ($9.99) if you like platformers. I don't myself, but Generations make it a great deal for $10.

It is a fantastic game, check my post history to /r/shouldibuythisgame for some reasons on why.

Not sure if it's worth it with a subpar graphics card - parts of the game can get framerate intensive. However, the game itself is absolutely worth buying if you like the idea of a challenging open-world RPG.

EDIT: Here is one such example. There is a small mod you can download to bump up the game's graphics - very simple installation. Use of a controller is recommended, but not strictly necessary.

If nothing else, it's on sale off Amazon (or was... might still be) for $7.50.

u/[deleted] · 6 pointsr/GameDeals

Some deals I noted while skimming.

  • Oddworld games for $.74 [1] [2]

  • Dark Souls for $7.49

  • The Cave for $5 is the cheapest I've seen it.

  • Everybody in /r/gamedeals already seems to own Bastion

  • Adventures of Shuggy for $1.49 looks fun. I'm buying it right now. TB has a WTF Is? of it, even though the game isn't his style.

  • I've heard good things about Mark of the Ninja

It's kind of weird that only one of the STALKER games is listed.

Works on most

Amazon is matching most steam sales. Use the code "Gooncave" for another 15% off. It can only be used once though. So if you have used it already you are out of luck

Here are a few examples. There might be more

|Name|Price Before Code|Price After Code
|---|---|---|
|Dead Island Riptide | $20 | $18.50
|Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition | $7.50 | $6.37
|Grand Theft Auto IV|$5 | $4.25
|Tropico 4: Steam | $6 | $5.10
|Batman Arkham City GOTY| $7.50 | $6.37
| Mount & Blade: With Fire and Sword|$2.50 |$2.12
| Mark of the Ninja|$3.75 | $3.19
| Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Standard Edition | $3 | $2.55

u/GlintEastwood · 6 pointsr/GameDeals

Here are the deals that made me sad i wasn't born in the land of the free and the home of the brave:

Dark Souls: Prepare To Die Edition for just $4.99 (historical low price, though it was matched several times)

Empire: Total War for just $3.79 (historical low price is $3.74)

Total War: Shogun 2 - Fall of the Samurai for just $7.49 (historical low price, but it has been matched before).

Somewhere, an eagle is weeping for me.

u/Traawn · 5 pointsr/ShouldIbuythisgame

Dark Souls, most definitely. All of the people I have convinced to purchase the game have clocked in around 90+ hours as well. Really well made game, aside from GFWL, not that it particularly matters in your case considering ping is a problem for you already and Dark Souls PVP is already always laggy (at least in my experience) regardless. It's also on sale on sale for $7.50 due to the huge Amazon sale going on. The DLC is fantastic, as well. Probably the best part of the game, in fact.

u/MDef255 · 4 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Dark Souls is currently on sale on Amazon for $7.50! They're out of Steam codes presently, but they should be getting more. I bought it a few days ago and am loving the HELL out of it!

Here is the Dark Souls page. Just keep checking it to see when they get some more codes in. I think they might be expected tomorrow or Tuesday.

Edit: Don't forget to download the resolution fix for Dark Souls!
Edit2: Here's a current post of Amazon's MAYhem sale list

u/hecuva · 3 pointsr/mylittleandysonic1

You can buy from Amazon if Steam is giving you trouble. Amazon is currently price matching most of Steam's sales. Use the promotional coupon GOONCAVE to save 15%. The code redeems on Steam just fine from personal experience.

Have you seen that it's currently $7.50 on Amazon? It's out of stock at the moment but the manager Tony has promised that it will be coming back before the MAYhem sale ends on the 31st.

Its $7.50 on Amazon Unless you meant the console version

> You say it's in small print on Amazon, but it's located right under the picture where you can easily read it.

Funny you should say that, I missed it entirely when I first loaded the page. Amazon has identical boxes like that on all of their pages typically about a "deal."

I went straight down into the product description section, then went up to the technical details, neither of which have it, and then I searched "Note 3" to discover that box.

> It's also the same font size as the rest of Amazon site.

Yes exactly the same. It is so the-same that it doesn't stand out at all. It should be a big red warning box or similar.

Check out this random page:
http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-Month-Gold-Membership-Online/dp/B004VSTQ2A/

Look at the "IMPORTANT NOTICE" in bold at the top of the page.

Or this page:
http://www.amazon.com/Dark-Souls-Prepare-Edition-Online/dp/B00917DBUE/

Look at the "NOTE" section at the top of the page AND in the product description in bold.

I can list more examples but my point is that Samsung aren't warning people very well and they're getting a lot of returns as a direct result. You can blame Amazon if you want, but Samsung could have put it in the product description.

u/ZeCaboose · 2 pointsr/gaming

If you can toss in an extra 5$ for this (WARNING: GFWL!!!) and are patient, this is an amazing buy. (You REALLY want to use a controller though)

u/PenguinJim · 1 pointr/patientgamers

£5 is quite expensive, as it often goes for US$5. A quick look around today found it for $5 here.

u/TactualRain · 1 pointr/darksouls

It looks like there's a problem with the Amazon sale. I tried to buy it, and the order failed; got the most painful runaround from their customer services. Turns out (according to them) that they're having "licensing" issues, and aren't sure if the product will be back online (on sale or otherwise).

Anyone got any details on this? http://www.amazon.com/Dark-Souls-Prepare-Edition-Online/dp/B00917DBUE/ is the store page. I'd like to know (assuming anyone's got more information than me :) whether or not it's likely to appear back in the sale, or if I'm wasting my time clicking refresh a lot :)

u/Yokuo · 1 pointr/gameswap

Yeah... they might get more in, but who knows. It could really go either way if past sales are any indication.

u/BeBenNova · 1 pointr/SteamGameSwap

It's currently unavailable on Amazon but it's the cheapest it's ever been

Why don't you just wait for them to restock it?

If you live somewhere else than US you can still put a random address, had one from a Steakhouse in Beverley Hills for like 2 years, never had a problem

u/puck17 · 1 pointr/SteamGameSwap

F1 2012 and Dark Souls $17.5 x 90% = $15.75. I can do $15.50 paypal at the lowest

Dark Souls - You’ve probably heard about this one plenty of times. Fantastic game, brutally challenging. It has one of the most eerie atmospheres I’ve ever experienced in a game. It’s just come to my attention that Amazon will be giving accounts that bought Dark Souls through them a $5 credit towards Dark Souls 2 (post from Tony, Amazon’s gaming rep, here). Some advice if you get this game: 1. Play with a controller. 2. Get DSFix, a fan-made mod that fixes various things about the port like making the game run at true 1080p and unlocking the framerate so you can get 60fps and not 30fps.

Mount & Blade: Warband - I have logged over 160 hours in this hack’n’slash medieval simulator, and that’s just me playing the singleplayer campaign. There are people with thousands of hours played in the game’s multiplayer. Its graphics are not the prettiest, but the game is ridiculously fun. I’ve never seen it go under $5 so if you haven’t played it and you have any interest at all in being a badass sword fighter, leading a mob of knights or vikings or archers around and pillaging or saving villages and sieging/defending castles, becoming a lord or even a king/queen, get this game. Warband also has some awesome mods worth looking into, like a Roman era total conversion if you’re into that.

Metro Last Light - This game is best played after its sequel, Metro 2033 (also on sale, though it was next-to-nothing in price in that one THQ Humble Bundle). It seriously is a great FPS, better (in my sincere opinion, please don’t downvote me) than Bioshock: Infinite by miles and miles. Probably my game of the year. Insanely atmospheric and beautiful. If you enjoyed the Fallout series at all, or post-apocalyptic settings, this game is a super treat. The only drawback is that it doesn’t have much in the way of replay value since one playthrough will be enough for most, but there is a lot of detail crafted into the game’s world that’s worth exploring. On harder difficulties, the game is very tense, with scarce amounts of ammo and very dangerous situations. You can go through most of the game stealthily as well, so you may have one playthrough where you’re Rambo and another where you’re Solid Snake; a choice I always find nice.

Those are my top 3 recommendations, but there are a lot of others (the new Tomb Raider, Bioshock: Infinite for $20 holy cow, Civilization V, et cetera) that are really good games as well. One thing’s for sure: this sale combined with the Greenlight sale and the new Paradox Humble Bundle… I have too many games to play. Too many games.

Not really interested in Rising Storm, sorry. Dark Souls is currently $7.49 on Amazon though http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00917DBUE/

u/goldlobster39 · 1 pointr/darksouls

Yea its showing up as 30 for me. If it stays screwy you can try buying it somewhere else.
