Some people do make yogurt in the LUXes, but in those cases they're only being used like any other large pot that's somewhat insulated, and can be heated, then closed to try and maintain a suitable temp for fermenting (usually for at least 6 hours).

Any of the IP's can heat the milk first (to 185 F, or only to about 110 F) using a thermometer to monitor the temp if that's desired (on Saute), but the LUXes do not have a setting that will hold the unit at the proper low temp for the fermentation step like the DUOs do (i.e., no hotter than about 120 F which would kill the cultures, and usually at least 110 F or so--if lower, more hours of fermentation would need to be added). The pot will hold the temp for a short time but will gradually cool, so sometimes people will wrap towels/blankets around it to slow the process.

There are other methods for insulating the inner pot though, or any pot/container that's large enough for the amount of yogurt being made, from wrapping with blankets inside a cardboard box to using an oven with the light or pilot light on, etc.
Before I had a DUO, I used to heat my milk in the microwave (in a large Pyrex "measuring cup" since glass is easier to clean when used for things like hot milk). Then I fermented in a cheap yogurt maker/fermenter (Salton) which is no longer available, but the Dash one is similar:
