You can buy machines, like at Walmart, which will allow you to transfer VCR tapes directly to DVD. However, they'll only work for the region (country) you buy them in. A while back, I bought a device (I wish I could remember the name of it) which allowed me to transfer the composite output of my VCR to the USB port of my computer. I've been looking online for it unsuccessfully, but eBay has several options. I'm thinking that, if you could get your hands on a VCR that's compatible with your tapes, you can use this device to transfer them to files on your PC. Many of these products come with editing software and other means for transferring the video files to DVD or whatever.

EDIT: Found the kind I have. It's a Dazzle. Although it looks like newer versions are smaller and cheaper. Probably work at least as well, too.

PC - FRAPS (Costs money), MSI Afterburner (Free, I believe).

Xbox360/Ps3 - A device called a Dazzle.

I think, if I am correctly, you hook your AV cables into it, then it has AV cables that go to the TV, and then you have the thing plugged into the PC as well, and it will record footage in real time directly to your hard drive on your computer.

At this point, it is raw video footage, and will take up a TON of room. This is when you acquire (store bought or, ehem other means) to get Sony Vegas Pro, or any other video editing software, to compress and edit the files to your desire. Then, you can throw that shit on Youtube, and be happy.

SOURCE: I make Youtube videos as a hobby. They aren't super popular, but they are fun to make, and I am happy if even one person finds entertainment from them.

Perhaps something like this?.

I don't have much knowledge in this , but that is the product I see people talking about when they mention a cheap way to record games and such.

Edit : I'm not sure if I selected the right product, there is one that hooks up to your TV though.

Here are some of the more popular capture cards

EasyCap 30$

Dazzle 50$

Dazzle HD 80$

Hauppauge HD-PVR 200$

Obviously the HD-PVR is reccomended, as that is what most people on youtube use. But depending on your budget you may have to choose otherwise.

[Dazzle is a cheap options as for capture cards, is only 70$.] (https://www.amazon.com/Dazzle-Video-Creator-Plus-VERSION/dp/B00392K4LQ/ref=pd_sim_sbs_65_3?ie=UTF8&dpID=51--Y-BdvSL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL320_SR320%2C320_&psc=1&refRID=HQDDE0DGKGVYJH5DR4QC) I don't know of much cheaper options, you just have to know that capture devices don't come cheap.

Like SketchTop, I use the Dazzle for N64,Gamecube, Wii, PS1, and PS2 games. If you want to record in HD, I recommend the Hauppauge HD-PVR.

Note that you will need to buy some extra cables like:

Component Cables

You may also need a distribution amplifier for the Dazzle depending on how you want your setup.

Hope this helped. I'm a fairly new LPer so feel free to disregard my recommendations if someone who is more experienced offers different advice. Feel free to read customer reviews so you can fully decide what you want. When you start making videos, you should post a link to your channel! Hope everything goes well!
