I’m in the US, and have a Delonghi Magnifica, which is a super-auto (grind and extract) espresso machine, with a steam wand. You can find them for about $500 online. They are definitely way less common than a conventional drip (filter) machine here; it tends to be a conversation starter in my kitchen.

The bias in this sub is definitely toward semi auto machines, and I’m sure the quality is better. But, my wife and I are busy working parents and it’s seriously amazing to stumble into a pre-dawn kitchen and have push button passable espresso.

I have a Delonghi Magnifica 3500 Super Automatic Espresso machine. A bit expensive, but it's worked great.

Makes a nice cup of americano, as well as good espresso. Decent size tank, decent size bean holder, good adjustable grinder. Also, it's got a good milk frother.

There have been complaints "My coffee is too cold...the liquid doesn't come out hot enough...herp....derp." You need to hot charge your cup first. Just run it under some hot water and you are good to go. If you put espresso in a cold cup (or americano) you lose a lot of heat.

Anyway, maintenance is pretty easy, it's one touch, very nice. Good luck!

It's a Super Automatic Espresso Machine. It's literally beans-to-cup. You pour beans in at the top and press a button. We freaking love it. We have a small team, but 5 heavy coffee drinkers.

We generally do espressos and add hot water from our water cooler for stellar Americanos.

We use the DeLonghi ESAM3300 Magnifica Super-Automatic at home, and it's wonderful.

Fill the top with whole beans. Turn it on, push a button. Espresso shot!

It has a milk frother if people want that.

Maintenance-wise, depending on how hard your water is, somebody will have to run some cleaning solution through it every couple months or so. (Really easy to do).

Ongoing cost is super-low, since you can just buy any whole bean coffee at the store.
