This shower head extension is one of the best thing's I've bought recently:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0064TYE9Y/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It makes me weep for all those years when I had to squat in the shower to get my shoulders and head wet.

This and This.
Why do people put up with this? Either get a detachable shower head or an extension arm.
If you live in an apartment just keep the original one so you can put it back on when you move out. You can usually install them without even using any tools.
In the meantime try this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0064TYE9Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_dp_T1_nS3DzbEQB03HM
I use it in my rental and it's great -- I'm 6'3" and I fit under it.
From one tall person to another get one of these then a rain style showerhead.
It's a great feeling to stand up straight and have the water wash over all of you, front and back.
And if you can't change the arm in the wall for whatever reason, there's also extensions:

I wonder if you could prevent it from getting quite as wet by adjusting the angle the shower sprays. We did a quick fix to our shower to make it more of a "rain shower" by adding an extension arm: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0064TYE9Y?psc=1&ref=yo_pop_mb_pd_title
The water now splashes totally differently in our whole shower. Since it's strait down, the walls do not get nearly as wet. I didn't anticipate how big the change would be.
I'm only 5'11", but my mom's house was built for hobbits. This is an absolute lifesaver.
There's this shit called a shower arm. I'm 6'2 and live in a pretty small apartment as well. It cost me like 20$ max and made showers 100% better.

This thing was the first thing I was thinking. I have this everywhere now. My wife is 5'3" and I'm 6'4".
Get a shower head extender. Helps with the height, you won't lose any pressure, and it makes it easier to rinse out the tub after cleaning. I recommend this cheapo Delta; it's been good to me for years now.

A few months ago someone else on r/tall linked to this one and I got it. $17 and worth every penny!
About $45 at a Lowes nearby my house.
At Amazon for $18 plus shipping.

A true life changer. Or anything similar will do. It went from the showerhead being eye level to "Holy shit, is this what it is like to shower as an average person?"

If you can't find wall mount that will stick to your tile, another option could be one of those adjustable shower arms that let you raise and lower the shower head.
http://www.amazon.com/UA902-PK-Universal-Showering-Components-Adjustable/dp/B0064TYE9Y/ref=pd_bxgy_hi_img_z
This is the same reason I hate EVERY shower. Buy one of these, it will be the best $20 bucks you'll ever spend. Take it with you when you travel.
This would work better

It raises your shower head by about 10 inches. I went from having the showerhead right at the base of my neck to just under the top of my head. I have to bend WAY less now to shampoo/condition my hair
Older houses were built for the generations before us. Better nutrition allowed us to grow taller than our parents and this has been going on for a few generations. I'm a builder and the ones I build come out of the ceiling or up around 6'4' depending on the installation. But we've also got to take the shorter of us into account too. So we use something like this http://www.amazon.com/UA902-PK-Universal-Showering-Components-Adjustable/dp/B0064TYE9Y/ref=sr_1_5/189-6573436-0688128?ie=UTF8&qid=1416201795&sr=8-5&keywords=Rainfall+Showerhead
Lots of different designs are available and if you shop around you can get what fits your needs pretty cheaply. I hate to say it but Walmart has a decent selection. They have to serve a lot of freaks so they're going to have a good selection that are designed differently. The majority have a pulse setting but they sell standard ones too.
Unscrew shower head, screw this on:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0064TYE9Y
screw shower head on to that.
If that's not enough, there are other options, or you can go with a hand held head on a flex hose.
Shower Arm
I've done that myself to every apartment I've ever lived in with one of these and a little teflon tape... shower extension
Hey, guys? You know there's an easy fix for this, right?
https://www.amazon.com/Faucet-UA902-PK-10-inch-Adjustable-Shower/dp/B0064TYE9Y/
annnnd fixed.
I'm assuming this is a dorm with a shower in the room if not this advice might not apply unless you don't mind waiting to take a shower in a specific stall. As a tall person myself I know about this sort of thing. They make height extenders. Here is the one I use. It just screws on where the head is, I would recommend getting a bigger rain type shower head.
