I've heard Destiny 2 has lost it's momentum from the first game. Why spend $30 on the base game or $53 on the base + season pass when they will likely release something along the lines of The Taken King edition and Rise of Iron edition/Collection?

The best FPS for your buck is definitely Destiny: the Taken King. PvE and PvP are both crazy enjoyable and replayable.

/r/destinythegame has one of the friendliest (if just a tad fanboy-ish) communities on Reddit, and has plenty of people (AKA sherpas) willing to help newcomers out. And you will need help with the 6-man raids, one of the most unique and rewarding experience in all of gaming.

It's also on sale!

TLDR: It's fun, it's friendly and active, and it's cheap. Get it meow! :-)

You definitely should. Or, sign up for an EU and grab it right now, since Activision's fucked with their pricing.

(TTK Expansion cost more than TTK Legendary Edition in AU store).

At any rate, I wish you good luck! (Could very well be in one of the weekly holiday deals!)

EDIT: A quick search showed Amazon is selling it for 40? You can grab it here bro. Digital and Physical costs the same.

If you're in the US its $40

That's pretty cheap, though you can check local used game stores.

Some of the data comes in a download code though and used games sometimes don't have those.

In the US? Destiny: The Taken King - Legendary Edition

It's available for $39.99 for both the physical and digital editions.

u/Xethaios · 2 pointsr/killthosewhodisagree

Earlier I saw the base game, expansions 1 and 2, The Taken King and Rise of Iron (? The newest one) bundled together for $40-60.

This doesn't have the latest, but everything else can be had on Amazon for $25. link

Edit: Oh, I see what you mean. Nevermind. Not too bad a deal, now that destiny 2's coming out in a year, to get the complete edition. Of course I'd need a console for that, first.

u/Stubrochill17 · 2 pointsr/GameDeals

Taken King edition is on sale on Amazon though. $33.15 for Xbox One and $39.99 for PS4.

u/notdeadyet01 · 2 pointsr/PS4

Again, A few weapons and a map doesn't equal the entire game. This is more like Xbox not getting destiny at all until this version got released a year later

Sorry if this isn't the sort of question intended for this thread, but I've searched and searched and haven't been able to find an answer.

My friend and I own the original Destiny game as well as the first two expansions. We haven't played for months, but are interested in coming back now to check out the new content in The Taken King. It looks like the cheapest way of acquiring TKK would be to buy the physical legendary edition (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZJ20YQO/ref=ask_ql_qh_dp_hza) which is $35, but this has a lot of duplicate content for us. I'm just wondering if there are any issues upgrading to TKK going this route. Will all of our save data (characters, weapons, etc.) remain intact if we essentially re-buy everything that came before TKK?

It seems crazy that the standalone digital upgrade for TKK is $40 and this entire legendary package is only $35, but if this is viable path to getting the expansion, then we'll happily save the $5.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I bought this for my brother. It was $29.99 December 14th only. Now I can finally get all that Refer-A-Friend shit. I'm pretty stoked to start all over with him.

Very doubtful honestly. I've been keeping a close eye on sales for Destiny 2's DLC and it's never happened. Either the base game is the only one that goes on sale, or sites with voucher codes (e.g. GreenManGaming always excluide Destiny 2's DLC as an option for using the discount.

There could potentially be a sale on the season pass as we approach the September expansion? Maybe? It's more likely that they'll put a new version of Destiny 2 on sale in December which has the base game, Curse of Osiris, Warmind, and the September expansion all bundled into one (much like the Legendary edition of Destiny: The Taken King and Destiny: The Collection) I honestly don't know though.

Also, you double-posted your comment.

This. Buy the "Legendary Edition" (Amazon link, for cover reference) since it includes both the base game (with expansions) and the Taken King expansion.

> because I honestly would not pay $70 for a single DLC

Just a heads-up, it's on sale for $33 today.

37$ with Amazon Prime. Point being, you can find it for less than 50$ at many different locations aside from your PS4 store.

I bought the legendary edition the other day, unaware that a new expansion was dropping so soon. Was there a different version I should have got, or just waited? Should I even worry about RoI content for a while since I'm brand new anyway?

It's $33. Now if you bought the game and each subsequent DLC at launch, like me, then yes over $100.

Edit: Sorry, $33 for Xbox One and $40 for PS4.

u/LucentBeam8MP · -9 pointsr/DestinyTheGame

What's the problem with getting the Xbox One version of the Legendary edition for $20?

The $40 digital upgrade path is a gigantic rip-off!
No on where, ever, do I believe it was stated that you could pay for Rise of Iron and get the rest of next-gen Destiny for free. You have to rebuy everything old for current gen.
