I thought about that, and you may very well be right. I only hesitated though when i found the linked car dock below, it mounts to a bolt in your car that has an extendable arm that intrigued me. The only thing i worry about though is how sturdy the arm is. If it stays in place i might actually try it out, theres a few different places i could try in my vehicle. For $20 its worth a shot. I dont have any confidence in docks that use 3M pads or similiar tactics to stay attached to the vehicle, i havent had success with one yet. Thoughts?
Thanks again for your input, now im leaning towards the 7, but my long term goal of using it as a larger screened nav system might still be out of reach for now.

No. That stand does not work in a car. I buy one of these about every 6 months for my car and it works well until the sticky pad gets weird:
