If the displayport port truly is working, you can buy a DP to HDMI adapter off amazon for about $8

u/smiller171 · 4 pointsr/oculus

Are you using the adapter for your monitor or the Rift? I'd suggest using it for the monitor.

I'm using this one DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B017Q8ZVWK?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

u/utf8decodeerror · 3 pointsr/oculus

Use an HDMI to display port adapter to plug your monitor into your gpu and use the HDMI for your rift.

It seems your issue may be caused having the monitor plugged into your integrated chip.

u/CatchMyException · 3 pointsr/oculus

I know Virtual Desktop has an option to run on windows bootup but I've never actually tried it. You're actually in the same position as me, I've a GTX 1080 with multiple Displayports but only one HDMI port which is for the Rift so I ordered a Displayport to HDMI adapter today off Amazon.

If you have issues with the 4K TV... just get one of these 1080p DisplayPort to HDMI adapters: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017Q8ZVWK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Note: DO NOT GET A 4K ADAPTER... make sure it is a 1080p like the one I linked. This way your GPU see it as a 1080p Monitor and not 4K

Yes (see below), tested with a TV, both video and audio are transmitted.

I've always just used one of these for my DP monitors (:

Or this to use a display port on your PC to an HDMI port that you can then use your spare HDMI cable to connect to your TV.

The terms male and female relate to which side of the plug you are referring to. Males plug into females (reproductive biology). So the port that end plugs into is female, and the side of the cable that plugs into the port is the male end.

Since VGA is Analog and DP is Digital, you usually need a powered adapter. Also, all the adapters I've found have been DP to VGA, not the other way around. When dealing with VGA the direction is important. I think you could possibly do it with a VGA to HDMI adapter.

https://www.amazon.com/VicTsing-Converter-Adapter-Output-Female/dp/B00K4W62R4/

Followed by a HDMI to Displayport cable.

https://www.amazon.com/Rankie-DisplayPort-Cable-Resolution-Ready/dp/B00Z05JMKO/

The best route might be a Dreamcast to HDMI adapter

https://www.amazon.com/HD-Link-Cable-Dreamcast/dp/B07BZP7HML

followed by a female HDMI to Displayport.

https://www.amazon.com/DisplayPort-Adapter-Benfei-Converter-Gold-Plated/dp/B017Q8ZVWK/

It's certainly possible, but it'll be a bit more work than I think you envisioned.

Edit - P.S. Be sure that the Displayport on your iMac is a displayport in and not a displayport out.

P.P.S. It seems the Female HDMI to Displayport might be one direction as well, DP-->HDMI

In the 15 years i have been building computers and buying gpus iv never seen a graphics card with dual hdmi ports. just did a quick amazon search there was a 1060 6gb with 2 hdmi ports lol. i have a vive and had the same problem with my 980ti and my 2080ti i have like 3 of theses i got off amazon work amazing.

So I tried this adapter and I get a blank screen: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017Q8ZVWK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Will one of the above work better?

u/PM-ME-EBOLA · 1 pointr/Vive

As others have suggested, grab a displayport to HDMI adaptor. It's a small price to pay when you've already spent so much on the hardware.

I bought this one, seems fine so far. Worth noting that owning a Vive right now is not very cheap. VR games are priced highly due to the smaller audience and low-budget development teams.

All that aside, enjoy your new tech!

Yeah, here's the link to the one I bought. BENFEI DisplayPort to HDMI.

To be honest, don't know much about active vs non-active cables, but I thought active HDMI is really only needed for long cables runs to prevent signal degradation. My HDMI cable is only 6ft long.

u/Beachin1979 · 1 pointr/buildapc

I am not building a PC, I bought it as is with the specs I thought would suffice. I didn't intend to upgrade the graphics card yet. I haven't opened up the tower yet. Didn't intend to. I can attach a pic of the back of the tower, but I don't think that's what you're asking for.

The adapter you mention- how does it differ from this? Which I bought. And what would I do with the aux port? My tv doesn't have an ability for that. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CTK4TH4/ref=cm_sw_r_em_apa_i_KfW4Db9CHCDQD

Or this, which also doesn't work. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B017Q8ZVWK/ref=cm_sw_r_em_apa_i_.gW4DbFAWS6N8

Yes, two LG ultrawides. One is 29" and the new one needing an adapter is 25"

In a similar vein, I haven’t tried it, but if your hdmi port is occupied and you have a free DisplayPort, you could alternatively try running one of these:

BENFEI DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter, Benfei DP Display Port to HDMI Converter Male to Female Gold-Plated Cord Compatible for Lenovo Dell HP and Other Brand https://www.amazon.com/dp/B017Q8ZVWK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_AsPLDbATS6X6

DisplayPort carries audio, similar to hdmi (note that DVI does not), so I think it would would work.

u/sebastalona · 1 pointr/oculus

The description of the adapter I purchased from Amazon states up to 1080p:

Displayport to HDMI Adapter, Benfei Dp(Display Port) Male to Hdmi Female Converter with Audio for Lenovo, Dell, HP, Asus and other brand(Dp to Hdmi) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B017Q8ZVWK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_FBtCzbH18W8KV

I only chose this one as it was in the related items section when purchasing the Rift.

I assumed all adapters would support same resolutions. I'll take another look.

u/FujiwaraTofu · 1 pointr/huion

Your card is this one? You should be able to use a HDMI female to DVI male or HDMI female to DisplayPort male adapter like this. Maybe try plugging the tablet into your video card HDMI output first just to make sure you don't have a lemon tablet or something as well.

u/thrawnfett · 1 pointr/InformationTechnology

Chromecast plugs into an HDMI, but that shouldn't be an issue. I use this cable on my home rig and at my company all the time with no issues: https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-DisplayPort-HDMI-Cable-Feet/dp/B015OW3M1W/

You'd obviously need the HDMI end to be female, but there are definitely adapters. Something like this would probably be fine: https://www.amazon.com/DisplayPort-Adapter-Converter-Gold-Plated-Compatible/dp/B017Q8ZVWK/

Base level Chromecast is $35, so you'd be under $45 for the whole set up. I doubt you'll find anything else that is significantly cheaper out there.

u/BL24L · 1 pointr/GAAB350

I'd suggest getting an adapter,

https://www.amazon.com/DisplayPort-Adapter-Converter-Gold-Plated-Compatible/dp/B017Q8ZVWK

Assuming you have a cpu that has an igpu (2200g/2400g) running two sets of graphics drivers is only going to cause headaches in the long run. I'd avoid it if possible and instead go with the adapter I linked above. Could also do dvi to hdmi.

u/King_Tamino · 1 pointr/de_EDV

Verwechselt du da nicht was?

Soweit ich weiß.

DP => HDMI -> günstig/via adapter

u/Pyreson · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Whats the best way to get my Switch to display on my monitor? My monitor has VGA, DVI-D and DisplayPort ports.

I already tried a basic HDMI-to-DisplayPort adaptor this one but it doesn't work.

u/LordCrumpets · 1 pointr/hackintosh

When you say an 'active' DP > HMDI adapter, what does the active bit mean? Will this work for example?

u/failingthetestoftime · 1 pointr/techsupport

Agreed. It looks like you have a couple of video cards in addition to the onboard video. Meemo has the right idea. Try getting an HDMI to DP adapter and see if that gets you squared away.

u/uradonkey003 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Yes, if you have integrated graphics with your CPU. Ryzen anything with a "G" at the end. Intel anything that doesn't have an F at the end. Otherwise, try using the display port connections if your monitors don't have display port connections use a display port to HDMI adapter.

u/exsstas · 1 pointr/Vive

I had a same problem and connect Vive to HDMI, while projectors works with DP-HDMI adapter.
So, I would suggest you first to try to connect your projector via displayport, using your cable - if it works, you'll need something like this: https://www.amazon.com/DisplayPort-Adapter-Benfei-Converter-Gold-Plated/dp/B017Q8ZVWK/ref=sr_1_4?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1485072502&sr=1-4&keywords=displayport+to+hdmi+adapter and plug your long HDMI cable into it.
