I wouldn't be worried. There's no way to gloss the American Right's rejection of science as a whole, much less evolution and climate science in particular. For that matter, it's pretty straightforward that whether you take a demarcationist criterion or not, ID just doesn't make a whole hell of a lot of sense.
The interesting questions, I think, are sociological: why would a whole segment of the population -- and Republicans are, on average, slightly better-educated than Democrats -- decide that science is inherently untrustworthy? Religion's got to count for part of it, and Michaels makes a good case for corporate America's share of the blame.
There is a whole industry dedicated to suppressing science that might have a negative effect on industry.
