I've been using this grip since I bought my XL and it feels great for long periods of gaming.

u/IndianaGroans · 6 pointsr/smashbros

I'm using the Dreamgear comfort grip I got it in today and so far have loved it.

u/ghost-factory · 5 pointsr/3DS

This looks so awesome. I hate having to wait until September 30th for this one to come out.

dreamGEAR Comfort Grip

I just bought this one, and it's great for my giant hands. I haven't tested it with Smash Bros yet, but it's awesome for Mario Kart 7 and Kingdom Hearts. Hope this helps!

Haven't tried that one but I have this: [DreamGEAR Nintendo 3DS XL Comfort Grip] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008XHCLFO/ref=oh_details_o09_s00_i03?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and it's fantastic. My hands used to get cramped after long periods but this took care of that issue. Added bonus it protects the 3DS too.

u/Kitten_Boogers · 4 pointsr/smashbros
u/BeastMode253 · 4 pointsr/3DS

While it shouldn't be mandatory, there are a ton of options out there to make it more comfortable. I bought this grip when I first got my 3DS, and use it or a CPP all the time.

u/zJeldie · 3 pointsr/smashbros

I've found that the bulk of these grips helps to reduce cramping by making the 3ds feel more like a controller. I personally am using one of these http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008XHCLFO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

With this case, I've found that the L and R are hard are awkward to use, so my plan is to mod the case to use those triggers I've posted before.

u/AgentSoup · 3 pointsr/3DS

Friend of mine suggested the DreamGEAR, and it looks absolutely worthwhile. I can solve the problem of the covered stylus dock by just holding my stylus in my beard. Win-win! :D

u/inquisitive_chemist · 3 pointsr/3DS

I just got mine on thursday as a birthday gift from the wife and love it. I am burning through xenoblade chronicles until sun/moon come out.

That being said, I do have large hands and I bought and should receive these grips tomorrow. https://www.amazon.com/dreamGEAR-Comfort-Grip-your-Old-Nintendo/dp/B008XHCLFO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1478617358&sr=8-1&keywords=3ds+xl+grips

I find the right side controls are perfect, but the left side kills my thumb. With the grips that should eliminate that.

u/signal9 · 3 pointsr/3DS

If you really want a big, comfortable feel get the XL and this: LINK I have it and i love it and it makes the 3DS not feel like a system designed for children but instead a system designed for MEN! or WOMEN!

u/niloc · 3 pointsr/3DS

Here is the product /u/BoisBrule is talking about.

http://www.amazon.com/DreamGEAR-Nintendo-3DS-XL-Comfort-Grip/dp/B008XHCLFO/

I wasn't sure what it was off hand.

u/mrmkenyon · 2 pointsr/3DS

I have the same problem. I bought a comfort grip on Amazon after the thread a few days ago recommended them. It's one of the best purchases I've made in a long time.

u/sashafiero · 2 pointsr/AnimalCrossing

I'm loving it. My hands were starting to hurt after playing a lot. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B008XHCLFO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 is the one I have, although there's something different with the one the top reviewer has; mine does have a game card slot cut out at the back, but the reviewer had to cut one out, but they cut it on the front left? This is supposed to be for the "old" 3DS XL, not the new one. It's easy to pull the case off on the right side to get to the sd card, too. It has helped my hands a bunch. And then I dropped it, and realized it was a good idea for that, too. :D The case has made it crazy bulky for carrying around in my purse, but I think it's worth the trouble.

u/solarbang · 2 pointsr/3DS

I'm not sure about the case in which you are referring, but I got this case and I love it. It's very soft and protective. It's like a smooth yet rubbery case.

This is the one I got a few years ago. I think there are some newer models out now for the New 3ds. Search up dreamGEAR 3DS XL Comfort Grip and you'll find more results.

u/LiquorQuickly · 2 pointsr/smashbros

http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B008XHCLFO/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I got this and it fixed all my issues. It's so fucking comfortable and smooth for my big unwieldy gorilla hands.

They do make the triggers "tighter" for lack of a better word. Some people like it, takes some getting used to.

u/blamethedogs · 2 pointsr/FantasyLife3ds

Here is what I bought for my 3DS XL. It works really good for me and makes it a whole lot easier to hold!

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B008XHCLFO/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1397176688&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40

u/adremeaux · 2 pointsr/MonsterHunter

I'm using the old 3DS XL grip, but you'll need to carefully cut some holes in the top so it doesn't press the z buttons. Beyond that, I mean, it covers all the main buttons/lights on the body but you don't actually need any of those if all you are doing is playing MH.

u/NinjaDucky9 · 2 pointsr/3DS

I use the bottom of this case when I know I'm going to be playing a while. It makes my 3DS XL much more comfortable to hold for long periods of time. It is a bit bulky on the bottom for the hand grips though. It's relatively easy to take on and off if needed as well.

I've purchased both of these products, and my favorite would have to be the 2nd link. However, I have a white version of it that i found on Ebay. The biggest flaw with it would be that you have no access to the Stylus. The first case however is a nice holding case also and you'll have access to everything, but i was just never a big fan of Silicon materials.

u/BloodyBenton · 2 pointsr/3DS

There are so many it depends on what you like, differences mostly being plastic or rubber material. I use the dreamgear grip sold on amazon ( http://www.amazon.com/dreamGEAR-Comfort-Grip-your-Nintendo-3DS/dp/B008XHCLFO ).

u/Turkin4tor · 2 pointsr/smashbros

As a guy with large hands, probably the best purchase I've ever made was this: http://www.amazon.com/dreamGEAR-Nintendo-3DS-XL-Comfort-Grip/dp/B008XHCLFO/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1422163206&sr=8-2&keywords=3ds+grip

I remember when I went to the Smash launch event, everyone was saying how much better it felt to hold the 3ds XL with it. I only use the bottom half for mine.

u/greedyiguana · 2 pointsr/smashbros

I actually have gone through three.

first I got the dreamgear and holding that one worked really well but i didn't like the material so much and it kept slipping off parts of the 3ds. plus it's also geared towards protection which I'm not too worried about so I returned that one

then I tried the cyber one which honestly felt the best overall to hold. I have pretty big hands and it just fit perfectly like an actual controller. But, for me at least the shoulder buttons were really hard to get to. The way my hands fit onto it, my fingers didn't rest on the shoulder buttons naturally, and trying to move them in the heat of the moment wasn't really working out.

so I returned that one, and picked up this one. I actually just got it today so I haven't gotten to try it out yet, but I've heard good things about it, and it seems like the best of both so here's hoping

u/sexi_squidward · 2 pointsr/3DS

I feel like I have to do that with mine. I bought an over sized case for my 3DSXL.

http://www.amazon.com/dreamGEAR-Nintendo-3DS-XL-Comfort-Grip/dp/B008XHCLFO

It's a great case. I pulled it out at PAX East and my friends thought I was carrying around an N-gage. It looks hilariously too big to carry around but it's comfortable!

u/poopnuts · 2 pointsr/3DS

I have the Cyber Grip in the video and I agree. It's great for games where the L and R buttons aren't used all that often but the way it's formed, it forces my index and middle fingers into odd positions. Would not recommend it for Smash.

The DreamGear Comfort Grip, on the other hand, is probably the best one out there. It's comfortable and gives good access to all buttons and ports. Mine very slightly obstructs the gamecard slot and charging port but because it's silicone, others may fit differently.

u/offensivejoke69 · 2 pointsr/smashbros

I got one of these. It's ridiculously comfy.

u/zzyxxy · 2 pointsr/AnimalCrossing

I use the Comfort Grip for my XL, looks a bit ugly but I feel much safer having it on.

u/brendaneph · 2 pointsr/3DS

My hands are so big I still need a comfort grip for my 3DS XL.

u/civanov · 2 pointsr/MonsterHunter

I have these and I love them, perfect for large hands. Havent had a cramp since I bought them, well over 500 hours of games with them.

https://www.amazon.com/dreamGEAR-Comfort-Grip-your-Nintendo-3DS/dp/B008XHCLFO

u/oloboloboo · 2 pointsr/3DS

I felt even the 3DS-XL that we bought was a little uncomfortable for my large hands. I like being able to carry the game system in my pocket, but I'm thinking about trying one of these Amazon Link- to Comfort Grip by Dreamgear.
Anyone ever tried this?

u/xeronut · 2 pointsr/emulation

These screen protectors and this hand grip work reasonably well as replacement accessories, as the only one made for the GPD XD (that I've found) is the soft case (which is pretty nice). They are not perfect fits, but get the job done.

Also, if you use your HDMI-out (mini-HDMI, not micro-HDMI) you'll want to power the device down, then plug in the cables, then power it back up or you'll have sync issues. You can also close the device while streaming video or games - it won't go to sleep but will turn the device's screen off.

Finally, the apps loaded on the system are all free versions of stuff on Google Play and the preloaded ROM/ISO selection leaves a bit to be desired but is a nice bonus. Anything more powerful than a Dreamcast isn't viable (and even that has performance issues on some titles). Pretty much every Android game I've thrown at it runs well too.

-edit- One last thing - there is no Bluetooth functionality, so have a microUSB adapter (and maybe 4-port hub) handy if you plan to do any multiplayer.

u/DoubleU12 · 1 pointr/smashbros

Uh yeah. I got it from amazon.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008XHCLFO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's pretty poor quality, I hear there are better 1s but it is rubbery and soft and fits in my hand so it works good for me. : )

I also have a spring cord stylist. I kinda went crazy on my 3ds haha. But it's ok. Probably totally worth it in the long run. : )

u/Janamil · 1 pointr/3DS

I was thinking about getting this but not sure yet.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008XHCLFO/

u/Zensige · 1 pointr/MonsterHunter

Its more a soreness in the middle of my palms.
I have the WiiU so if it gives they same ergonomics it should be alright.

Anyone tried dreamGEAR 3ds XL comfort grips?
Link

The silicone seems more appealing in terms of comfort.

u/ChrisC1234 · 1 pointr/3DS

I use the DreamGear grip also (http://www.amazon.com/DreamGEAR-Nintendo-3DS-XL-Comfort-Grip/dp/B008XHCLFO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1367375474&sr=8-1&keywords=dreamgear+3ds). It's got a good feel, and is very easy to install and remove.

An added benefit of this is that it covers up most of the blinking lights, so it doesn't light up an entire dark room. They can still be seen through the trip though. And the message light is not covered up at all.

u/thesk8rguitarist · 1 pointr/3DS

I always keep mine in this case. It's seriously the most comfortable thing you can get to play your 3DS for any extended time (makes Smash WAY easier to play) plus, it protects it from my rambunctious toddler.

u/elguitarro · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Fuzzy wuzzy. I wanted the 3DS handgrip but my 3DS recently broke ): so I'm not looking for a game accessory right now.

Thank you for the contest. (:

Edit: Here it is. (:

u/unicornbomb · 1 pointr/gaming

i love the xl. I have tiny hands but the form factor on the original 3ds is just awful. the XL is much nicer, and it doesnt hurt my eyes. I use one of these to make it even more comfy: http://www.amazon.com/DreamGEAR-Nintendo-3DS-XL-Comfort-Grip/dp/B008XHCLFO/ref=cm_cr_pr_pb_t

I highly recommend buying this if you are an adult with larger hands.. has made my hands go from cramping and hurting after an hour of use to being able to play for 8+ hours without any discomfort.

I bought this grip for my 3DS XL and its life changing - no more hand strain even after 8 hours straight of persona q

u/Justwantsomelove25 · 1 pointr/3DS

I solved the problem of holding a 3ds XL for extended periods of time with this http://www.amazon.com/dreamGEAR-Nintendo-3DS-XL-Comfort-Grip/dp/B008XHCLFO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1421708926&sr=8-1&keywords=dreamgear+3ds+xl
incredibly comfortable and basically its own case. The covered interior of the unit allows no need for a cloth to separate the screens.

u/Mkilbride · 1 pointr/3DS

How are these hard plastic cases for protection? Something about them seems like they'd add a good bit of weight to it and be uncomfortable.

Something like this seems to be the best of both, once upgraded for the New 3DS XL.

http://www.amazon.com/dreamGEAR-Nintendo-3DS-XL-Comfort-Grip/dp/B008XHCLFO/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1421488045&sr=1-1&keywords=3ds+xl+grip

u/Dougy_Sampson · 1 pointr/3DS

I would recommend a NEW 3DS regardless, I just really like them

As for the old 3DS XL, buy this https://www.amazon.com/dreamGEAR-Comfort-Grip-your-Nintendo-3DS/dp/B008XHCLFO?th=1

It awkwardly covers the cart slot but it's suuuuper comfy.

u/_SnesGuy · 1 pointr/tifu

> my hands are too big to play it for more than 10 minutes without getting cramps.

6'4 guy here. 3DS XL + Dream Gear

u/Lleland · 1 pointr/smashbros

DreamGear grip would probably still fit it if.

u/LuntiX · 1 pointr/xboxone

I've experienced it with PC Gaming and handheld gaming (3DS and whatnot). With PC Gaming I use to get a sore wrist, but now I buy mousepads with the wrist pad and now my wrist barely gets sore. For handheld gaming I have a double jointed thumb, if I hold a position too long it hurts like hell and cramps up, I had to buy a hand grip for my 3DS and now my thumb still hurts, just not as fast/often.

u/SabinMoon · 1 pointr/3DS

I've used a few different cases in the past, but the Super Mario Transporter by PowerA is hands down the best one I've gotten.

It can hold 20 DS/3DS games.
And it holds my 3DS XL with the DreamGEAR ComfortGrip attached to it just fine And it still has room for the AC/Car chargers and styluses.

It also comes in Black, Red and Blue. I chose the black one because it still looks cool but is more discrete.

u/sink_tsunami · 1 pointr/smashbros

Right, but the XL one is :(

u/Joggly · 1 pointr/smashbros

I recently got this one, it's pretty good for only $5 ish. If you look around on ebay you can find this one for $5 from the US, if that's closer to you.

dreamGEAR Comfort Grip for your Old Nintendo 3DS XL https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008XHCLFO?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

Here’s the one I had gotten; it’s two parts, but I found myself only using the bottom/grip half. And while it definitely helped, I almost feel like a 3D printed grip would be better.

I can’t think of the name of the product right now, but there’s this cool two-part rubber agent that’s moldable momentarily but then eventually hardens. I put some on a wiimote and nunchuck grips and basically molded my hand, which made gameplay super comfy.
