I was inspired by /u/joefxd's post a couple months ago (sweet lighter) and used this dremel engraver

Dremmel makes an affordable engraving tool that runs around 25 bucks and works quite well. (http://www.amazon.ca/Dremel-290-01-Stroke-Engraver-Template/dp/B0000302YN)

I've seen guys make up a logo and stamp it into parts before. Results have varied from poor impressions left on some hardened tools.

The top end of the spectrum is to use an e.d.m. machine. I've never had acess to one, nor do I understand it- but I've seen a guy "burn" his logo (a star with his innitials) into tools.

I've used this with success- Dremel engraving tool. But someone probably has a better solution. That tool doesn't come in very handy for much else unfortunately.

Just get an electric handheld engraver. They're like $15. There's a Dremel branded one on Amazon. I got mine at a small local hardware store. There are pneumatic ones available too.

Yeah probably used something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Dremel-290-01-Stroke-Engraver-Template/dp/B0000302YN

I think they forgot to use the template though, looks horrid. :p

I haven't seen any, the few I've made were with an impact engraver (similar to this), letter/number stamps, and some practice.

u/ElRedditoRoboto · 2 pointsr/StonerEngineering

The engraver in the pic. I used a diamond bit and went really slow.

this here works pretty well, but none of your engravings will look the same, even if you use that template :P

Stainless steel pots? no problem... as long as they aren't coated with non-stick crap.... use a Dremel engraver

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/DIY

Sure will, & thanks for the info! :)

Planning on buying this dremel and these bits. What do you think?

I never got into the whole colored tape/paint idea. It takes 10 seconds to take it off and someone can say it's theirs. I bought one of these to carve my initials into it.

Anyone know if you can do it yourself with a tool like this? Dremel 290-01 0.2 Amp 7,200 Stroke Per Minute Engraver includes Letter and Number Template https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000302YN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_SgnwybD15CYQS

I went and bough this one. Used the same bit(carbide) it came with.

For sure there may be cheaper sheets out there.

  1. buy 100 of these.
  2. Write your business information on each one of them with one of these.
