run get a #6 rubber stopper from your LHBS, or order from smile.amazon.com. Get 2 since it'll fit either one and doesn't depend on the thread.

Yes I use these for secondary fermentation/clearing. You can see if you stalk my post history. I use a 2 gallon bucket for primary fermentation. I believe the size stopper to fit the 1 Gallon (4 liter) bottles is a #6 bung.
