Save yourself from wasting an expensive razor blade and risk of cutting the fabric with a sweater stone: http://www.amazon.com/Dritz-Sweater-Stone-Clothing-Care/dp/B000WUXOT2. They are < $7.

You could use a sweater stone or a fabric shaver.
I read the reviews of Caron Simply Soft on ravelry and apparently it is known to have a fuzz halo (probably what makes it soft!) So, it's just the yarn and I wouldn't stress too much about it. Soft yarn = fuzz and pills!
I prefer a sweater comb or a sweater stone. I get a quicker and better result.
I use something similar to this to get them off of my clothing: http://www.amazon.com/Dritz-Sweater-Stone-Clothing-Care/dp/B000WUXOT2
I have this bad boy and although it's not a sweater shaver, per se, it works really well and will not eat your sweater. It's also available from Nordstrom with free shipping.
I use this...works like a charm for me!

I have the same one, and it died halfway through the first sweater. I'm envious of your sheets de-pilling. That sounds like meditative fabric heaven.
After mine pooped out so quickly, I started reading tons of Amazon reviews and for every depiller (no matter the brand or price) about 10-15% of reviews said the same thing. It's enough for me to keep it low tech with a stone or a comb.
A machine? Damn... use a sweater stone b https://www.amazon.com/Dritz-Sweater-Stone-Clothing-Care/dp/B000WUXOT2
If it's fuzzy and shedding, a sweater stone might help, but it also might not be worth the effort

Sweater bricks are awesome for that.

Wow that's a long time. For future reference, see the other comment about using a sweater stone. So much faster. I once used it on a full sized sofa, and had it completely de-pilled in under 15 minutes.
