I am sympathetic.

I suffer from an ailment with similar causes to Coeliac disease. The doctors are currently trying to classify it. My symptoms include depression (the clinical kind, not the "I feel bad today" kind), anger and physical pain.

I also live in the UK. Wheat is a cheap starch across Europe, so it is quite common for corn to be substituted with wheat in several of the "natural" additives. I'm also effected by malt, barley rye and oats, which are all also common, although less common than wheat.

I went though E for Additives to work out what I can and can't eat.

I feel great now I'm off everything that I shouldn't be eating.

The trouble is that it includes so much that eating at a friends house, or in a restaurant is nearly impossible.

Malt vinegar, maltodextrin, glucose syrup, fructose syrup and MSG are all on the bad list, purely as I cannot know where they are from - and they are never made pure, as that would be too expensive.

Why is it that manufacturers insist in placing all of this rubbish in our food? :(
