Would it not be better to keep the warranty on the phone and instead have a powerbank of some sort? Something like this perhaps?

u/eleitl · 3 pointsr/SelfSufficiency

Do you want to experience 7 months under such conditions? In case not, and it's possible:

> no phone

If there's mobile coverage, buy a (e.g. Huawei) MiFi with a suitable data plan and a 15 W solar panel to power it -- plus a LiIon battery pack.

e.g.

http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00PW4I9M0

http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00F5Q4F0U

> no lights

The battery pack above comes with a lamp built-in. Add a LED lantern. A Kindle paperwhite is backlit, and can take some 1 k books (there are free ebooks if you know where to find them).

You can go hog wild, and buy a couple PV panels, a solar charger, an inverter, and a suitable lead-acid battery. I wouldn't want to go too rural if you're not used to it, and get a case of cabin fever.

> no motor car

Not really necessary, unless you can't shop within walking or biking range.

I would be more worried about lack of hot water. Do you have running cold water, or at least a well?

Bateria e de 3000mAh nu prea ține mult, cumva e de înțeles, că e imens ecranul și nici măcar nu e amoled; dar mie îmi place f mult cum se vede IPS-ul acesta. On time imi arata 7 ore.

Get one of these if you have Amazon prime or can pay for next day delivery

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00F5Q4F0U/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1497690305&sr=8-1-spons&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=battery+pack&psc=1

I've had mine for a few years and they easily last the whole festival, plus you don't have to keep going to the EE tent to get a new pack

EC Technology 2nd Gen Deluxe 22400mAh 3 USB Output External Battery With LED Flashlight For Smartphones- Black & Red

I calculated it to be 86Wh at 3.7V, which I believe it to be, if it is in fact at 5V then I have a really nasty hand grenade...

u/piskyscan · 2 pointsr/raspberry_pi

Article says a couple of amps per board. You are going to need a big power supply.

Something like this might work.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00F5Q4F0U/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Its quite a hefty size, bigger than it looks in image, but it should give you hours of usage.

u/Explosive_Cornflake · 2 pointsr/Android

This cost me €16 about a month ago, they had an offer with some voucher.

I use it run a rPI and some speakers.

u/QuestionMarker · 2 pointsr/Android

When I'm out and about and going to be away from a charger for a while, I try to have one of these on me. It's the difference between being stressed about running out of juice, and really not caring what I do with my phone. Yes, it's not as nice as a bigger internal battery would be, but for the price (£36 when I bought it) it's a decent compromise.

u/OMGaNerd · 2 pointsr/raspberry_pi

Do you mean a portable battery pack so that you can power your RPi without it being plugged into a mains? I have this one as I has a 2.1A output which is the same as the mains adapter power source and use my OnePlus One USB cable to power it. (You may need a decent USB cable to carry the current but not sure)

I have this one and it lasted me the entire 5 days.

I just bought this - EC Technology 2nd Gen Deluxe 22400mAh 3 USB Output External Battery With LED Flashlight For Sm
artphones- Black & Red https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00F5Q4F0U/ref=cm_sw_r_apa_GiaJxb4CHZENM

£20 for 24000+ mah plus 3 ports with 1 quick charge port...will charge a phone average 8 times I would say

u/MaxoJggwp · 2 pointsr/batteries

Ah ok thanks.

The one i have started looking at is this one and it says this in the description.

"Multi-USB ports - There are 3 USB ports avaiable (2.4A for iPad, 2A for Samsung phones, 1A for iPhone), it enables you to charge 3 devices simultaneously."

What does that mean?

Does it mean i can only use a certain port for my phone? And if not what does the Different amps mean?

u/BritRedditor1 · 1 pointr/Surface

I tried using: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00F5Q4F0U/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

But I got the not charging sign indicator. I will have to play around using the Surface cable and using the iPad port.

It's more for emergencies anyways since I got the power bank on lighting deal for £12 or so.

u/bakb0ne · 1 pointr/Ingress

Product So far so good, should stop me running out of juice.

u/CaberTime · 1 pointr/GPDPocket

Just be of decent quality and be able to output a decent number of amps.
I have one of these and it charges the pocket fine at 5v@2A (confirmed with power meter)

If you're in the UK this £23 EC Technology 22400mAH is probably the best for your Crafty.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00F5Q4F0U/

For me it charges my Crafty - with a dying battery - in half the time it takes with my 2amp Samsung charger and you can charge the Power Bank up twice as fast as other banks as it has 2x 2amp charging inputs. Obviously you need two 2amp chargers or a good dual charging charger but you can still charge with just one 2amp input.

u/ExKcir · 1 pointr/pokemongo

i bought this two:
https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00VJT3IUA/
https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00F5Q4F0U/
(sry for german amazon, i am sure its also available on the .com)

And i am realy happy with its 20100mAh/22400 mAh for just 30€/32€

u/fact_hunt · 1 pointr/london
u/wosmo · 1 pointr/electronics

I have one that looks very similar to this, but at 22,400mAh. And yes, that's 22,400 at the battery, not after the 5v buck - so ignoring efficiency, probably 16,576mAh at 5v.

I believe mine's 8 cells (18650), so if it's the same chassis, 30,000 isn't too much of a stretch. 300,000 otoh ..

u/Ilejwads · 1 pointr/AskUK

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00F5Q4F0U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_FI.gzbMM1ZMFV

It's not a solar charger, however it's an external battery. I have it, can easily charge my phone quickly 6 times over from full. Also contains a really powerful torch on the front (with an SOS flash which has been pretty unnecessary for me).

u/MoribundTyke · 1 pointr/AskUK

That looks pretty decent.

I use this battery pack, which has kept my phone charged for four days when I forgot to take my mains adaptor on holiday with me

u/Soapy9 · 1 pointr/travel

Not exactly what you asked, but I use this power bank which has three usb ports. One of them outputs less than 2A though so might not be what you're looking for.

u/Will_Ready17 · 1 pointr/readingfestival

Never bothered with either, toilets don’t really bother me, ones in the arena get cleaned daily so probably your best bet getting there early if that bothers you.
With charging I’ve taken this for the past two years and it’s lasted the whole weekend (Wed-Sun) both times.

u/grrrkgrrrl · 1 pointr/electronic_cigarette

i got this- it's amazing.
