Options:

  • Get a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter (such as this)
  • Run a standard 1/4" instrument cable (TS or TRS) from your P95's audio out or headphone jack (preferably L+L/R) to your computer's 1/8" LINE IN.
  • Get an audio recording program like Audacity
  • Set up to record from line in.

This method will use your keyboard's normal voices and is sent directly as an audio signal to the computer where it's recorded as a wav/aiff.

If you want to go the MIDI route:

  • You need a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) like Reaper. (There are tons of DAWs out there: Pro Tools, Cubase, Ableton Live, Logic, Reason, Garageband, etc).
  • You need a virtual instrument (like Pianoteq). (You can find some free pianos, but they don't always sound that great)
  • Setup your DAW to capture midi recording and route the midi data to your virtual instrument. The DAW can then render that data to an audio file.

Let me know if you have any questions!

You can plug it into any speakers that have a 1/8" stereo input jack.

Honestly, the POD is $150, why you don't just get an amp like this and not screw with the emulator-to-headphone thing? Playing a real amp is a great feeling, and can't really be replaced. Also, if you want to jam with a buddy in a year or two, you'll be able to without buying anything. If you want to output to headphones, you can still do it with that amp, you just have to buy a $1.50 adapter and use any headphones you want.

That's my advice, honestly. In the spirit of answering your original question, I wanted to tell you what the Pocket POD is about, but I'm telling you get a real amp. Either something like that Orange, or a Fender Mustang, or a Roland Cube, or some other options used which will bring their price to that same range.

TL;DR Pocket POD can go into headphones, or external speakers, or into an amp, is versatile, but get a real practice amp instead like the ones I listed. You'll be too restricted with a POD for what amounts to the same price, and real guitar amps hitting your face sound way better than any headphones or speakers.

For non-simultaneous playback:

Here's what you could do:
Buy one 3.5mm Stereo Male to Two RCA Male Splitter Cable, and one 2 x RCA Male, 1 x 3.5mm Stereo Female, Y-Cable 6-Inch. Also get a 3-Way Audio Video AV RCA Switch Selector Box Splitter. That all together is $9.82 US.

Connect the xbox to your TV as normal. Use the RCA cable included with the splitter to connect your TV's audio output to the Splitter's Input 1. You don't need to connect the yellow video connection on that cable. Then use a male 3.5mm Stereo to RCA cord to connect your laptop/iphone's headphone jack to the Splitter's Input 2. Plug the 2 x RCA Male, 1 x 3.5mm Stereo Female, Y-Cable 6-Inch cable into the Splitter's Output, and connect your headphones to the 3.5mm female end. You should then easily be able to switch between ipod/laptop and xbox/tv sound feeding to your headphones by adjusting the splitter's output switch. This is a very basic setup, but should achieve what you're going for as long as you didn't want the two inputs playing simultaneously.

For simultaneous playback:

Here's what you could do (I admit this is probably a bit of a wrap around way of doing it, but it was fun to come up with):

Buy:
Two Behringer MICROMIX MX400 4-Channel Mixer, one 3.5mm Stereo Male To 2 RCA Male Cable, one Male RCA to male RCA cable, one male RCA to female 3.5mm cable, six 3.5mm to 2RCA female adapter, and six 1/4 inch to 1/8 inch stereo jack adapters. This setup without shipping and handling costs $75.55 US.

This thing only outputs in mono though, so it doesn't benefit your headphones greatly (only one side will play sound). This is why we're gonna get two of them though, and this is the fun part. Check out this picture: http://i.imgur.com/UPMX5j2.png. It has the steps included with a crude illustration. The benefit of this setup is that you can have the ipod/laptop coming in at a different volume than the tv/xbox. Also has space for two more inputs if your ever have more you want to plug in (or to allow a laptop and ipod to be plugged in at the same time).

I... I think that setup would work.

You plug the microphone in to the input marked "1" on the front, and the headphones into the one marked "Phones" on the back.

You'll need a pair of 6.3->3.5mm adapters like these.

I personally use this.

I have my PC on one input, and my TV on another input (so I can watch a movie or something on my PC and play console games with one pair of headphones)

With the mixer I linked, you can have three inputs and two outputs, which is perfect for your setup.

You'll need three of these to connect to inputs 2/3 and 4/5 as well as the main out output. Then you also need two of these to go to the first input, and the other output.

I highly recommend that mixer, it works fantastically and is built tremendously.

All told it will run you about ~$50

I found some inexpensive hardware options that would do the job just fine.

http://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-107158-Stereo-Adaptor-Plated/dp/B003DBTAZ4

In the event that you need a 6.3mm adapter, unfortunately I couldn't find any 6.3mm stereo to mono passive adapters, so worse comes to worse, you could just purchase a 3.5mm to 6.3mm passive adapter and use it with the 3.5mm stereo to mono adapter.

If you don't have a 3.5mm to 6.3mm adapter, here are some inexpensive ones:

If you prefer a software solution, I can look around more easily tomorrow, since I'm on my phone right now.

Hope this helps!

Something like this is a cheaper alternative if you don't want to get new headphones. Just buy a few of them because they like to disappear.

Not to mention how ridiculously over-priced the electronics they do have are. They sell a 4-track mixer for $100, whereas I can get an 8-track for $50 on amazon, or $20 for a 4-track. It's similar to what best buy and other stores do by jacking up the price (see HDMI cables), but even guitar center or local music shops won't sell a 4-track for more than $50. If I do end up buying some part or if I'm in dire need of a cable or otherwise, yeah, they're clueless. One time I was buying this, and got barraged with "So if you join our mailing list, need any batteries? We got some sweet cell phone deals man, come back for our sale this next spring, etc etc"

That place is the worst.

Get one of these or find one of them, I have so many of them that came with all the headphones I've bought.
