I think more important than his eye not recognizing it is his screen not being able to display it. I think the highest refresh rate available right now is 240hz, and that's pretty hard to get your hands on.

Basically, the only option available is the Eizo Foris FG2421, with a 24" 1080p VA panel capable of 120Hz (and a backlight strobing mode marketed as "240Hz"). It's apparently a really beautiful display, but is really, REALLY expensive for what it is.

No other high refresh rate 24" non-TN monitors have been announced, sadly.

If you want excellent color and picture and also 120Hz right now the monitor to look at is this:

It's a VA type panel with native 8-bit color but also a super fast monitor. It also has a technique to eliminate even more blur than the average 120Hz monitor.

This panel is internally 240Hz and they insert a black frame between each of the native 120 frames. This eliminates blur by a lot.

There are some articles detailing this feature out there.

Here's one I bet you didn't know.

I hear VA panels are as good as IPS but I am not sure.. they are certainly better than TN tho

240 Hz is already out. EIZO has one. There used to be CRTs that would be 200+ I believe as well. And while you can't distinguish individual frames at that point, the upper limit I'm pretty sure is well beyond that of possible human perception. Plus it would simply differ from person to person. But don't EVER believe anyone that says 30 Hz is the max. It's simply not. Not even close to the max.

And probably still a TN panel.

Take a look at the EIZO Foris. VA panels have less gray-to-gray response, but far better color, like a perfect blending of IPS and TN.

Since you have a high end pc, might as well go with a high end gaming monitor?

I want to recommend the Eizo FG2421. It's not glossy, but semi-glossy which is close to the clarity of glossy screens. Also it doesn't seem to officially support vesa mounting, but it does have two holes on the back which can be used for this, it seems stable enough if it's just for wall mounting.

It has a 120hz MVA panel, so it has wonderfully deep blacks. It's also one of the very few monitors that uses black frame insertion to reduce motion blur (Eizo calls it Turbo 240), so it'll perform much better than any 1-2ms TN without BFI.

It's not cheap, but it's definitely worth the price. If you're going to get this monitor make sure you buy it from somewhere where they have a good return policy, because some units have some ugly uniformity issues with certain shades/brightness settings.

$600... 1 Eizo FG2421 because it is by very far the best gaming and movie watching / general image quality LCD currently available (not quite up to Plasma TV levels of performance for image quality, but stellar performance for an LCD).

There's tons of tech reviews for this (and other *VA panel LCD displays) listed here

You might be surprised to hear that given the performance of the display (it's basically a first to combine certain achievements), people were asking why it's so cheap (yep cheap) since there are reportedly quite a few Quality control issues. Turns out these might be 'reject' panels from $6000 satellite imaging monitors. yeah.
