The 3 Penguin classics are great because they've got annotations from S.T. Joshi and also have the corrected text by him. They're also cheap. Since they aren't huge volumes they are also easy to read and carry.

The Necronomicon (listed in the comments below) is nice as well, but it lacks footnotes and has errors. Also nice is the companion to this - Eldritch Tales which has some stuff the Necronomicon doesn't.

The Barnes and Noble edition seems like a good buy.

I recommend having a look at this page over at hplovecraft.com. It has a good overview of the various sources you can choose from.

The Arkham house editions seem like the definitive ones, however they are a bit harder to come by than some of the others.

I would suggest The Music of Erich Zann. (you might guess that's one of my faves.)

Also: Beyond the Wall of Sleep is a good one that I don't see mentioned enough.

There are a bunch of his works here. Read at your leisure.

Here are some print collections of his work that you might like if you prefer reading paper instead of a screen.

(and as you noted, the ones in the sidebar are indeed a perfect place to start, they are some of the best.)

First one is your usual suspects, but in a lovely hardback format, second book turns it into a complete works (sans the letters) in two volumes, including fragments, collaborations, poetry and Supernatural Horror in Literature.

The story is by H.P. Lovecraft called Beyond the Wall of Sleep. Its a weird story about an intern at a mental clinic in 1900 who begins to believe that the rantings and ravings of an insane hillbilly are messages from his deep sleep and tries to find out more about the inner workings of this man's mind.

The cigar is Arturo Fuente Hemingway Short Story hence the pun in the title. Its a fantastic little cigar, I couldn't recommend it more. The foot is conical which makes it really easy to light with a match and makes for a good slow even burn.
I had just finally started to get a full humidor in January when my apartment burned down. I lost a lot of stuff but at least I didn't have a lot of fire damage, just flooding from burst pipes and hoses, some smoke damage, and my living room caved in. I lost my cigars and 3/4th of my books, but just the other week I ordered my first huge 20 cigar haul from the internet and I had just received my replacement copy of Eldritch Tales in the mail yesterday.

And there's a second volume, too.

I love these collections but it's almost like they're released in secret.
