Feels like 2010.

The Wardell thing is old news now, but trolls tried to bait people into this story about "fantastic racism", walls and bridges and dark elves or some such saga bullshit. Unfortunately, none of the review actually lines up with the book. selected quote-mining and grammar checking aside, the subjective parts are extremely bizarre and out of context to the plot or narrative or characters.

Turns out the unamommer (Angie Gallant, @pizoxuat) blog review of the book (https://archive.is/WTtXQ), was a troll review on NeoGAF and other forums after her husband had been kicked out of a forum (Quarter to Three) on which she was well known for snarky LP's of date sims and JP games, and progressive opinions.

The last bit might be considered an exaggeration, but Quarter to three and Broken forums are/were archaic places to converse. Broken's a lot like NeoGAF, SomethingAwful, etc. in their "democratic" heavy moderation of political or different opinions, hosting several SJW related groups pre/post GG. As for Matt Gallant, IDK. it might be the former EIC of Kotaku, or an employee of Naughty Dog, there's a few people with the same name, so, IDK.

most of that thread is just Stardock enmity, nothing concretely trolling. As the Amazon comments (http://www.amazon.com/review/RUFWR19N1DSN9) for the book note, there's 4 people that have 1-star reviews, some with the last name of Gallant.

Mostly because you'd have to buy the book to read it, few people wanted to validate or confirm the story at the time. Which is why Amazon and far more preferably Goodreads are still places to check people's bullshit when it comes to books.
