I installed my mothers VESA mount 27” iMac 5K on this a couple weeks ago. I have the spring set to it’s lowest torque setting and it’s working really well. Able to just lift/lower with ease.

I have the x34 and got the Ergotech Freedom Arm HD with the grommet mount and its been perfect for me. Some people have said you don't need to get the HD model but I figured better safe than sorry.

Mine took up too much space. It was too close to my face. I got this mount and it is awesome. Just make sure you have enough lip on the back of your desk for the mount.

You'll want something with a high percentage of the AdobeRGB color space covered. 98%+ AdobeRGB would be best.

BenQ and Eizo make very good monitors for photo editing but it's really going to come down to whatever combination of screen size, resolution, feature set, and price point works best for you. Hardware calibration and a monitor hood are features that I find quite useful for photo editing. A 10-bit panel is also beneficial for the greater amount of colors it can display.

As for things to avoid, I'd pass on monitors that don't mention or are vague in regards to what color spaces or what amount of a color space they cover. Most good monitors will tell you the exact percentage. I'd also avoid gaming oriented features like super high refresh rate or pixel response time. While they're not mutually exclusive, monitors tend to be aimed at one to the exclusion of the other.

In regards to desk space, you may want to consider an arm like the Ergotech.

Check out B&H. They have really good filters so you can narrow down your options based on exactly what you want. As far as recommendations, I recently bought a BenQ SW240 and am quite happy with it but, again, it's really going to depend on the size and features you're looking for. I got the 240 because it's the same size and resolution as my secondary monitor while having everything I wanted.

I have the ASUS ROG 34" PG348Q, and I use the Ergotech Freedom Arm HD. Per the product specs, it should be able to support 20 to 30lbs.

For perspective, my monitor is 17lbs without the stand, but even then, it weighs down the Freedom Arm just fine. From what I was able to find, it sounds like you bought the Samsung CJ890, and according to the spec sheet on the product page, the weight of the monitor without the stand is 22.49 lbs.

It's 26.2 lbs without the stand. The means the two stands I've used with my AW3418DW aren't going to cut it.

This should do the trick. You might be able to get a different color, but make sure it's the HD variant. HD is ~20-30 lbs, while standard is ~8-17 lbs.

I swear by Ergotech Freedom and Freedom HD arms. I have a HD and holy crap, it has so much tension I have it all the way down and my 34" Asus ROG is still standing up more than I'd like it to.

Build quality is stellar, and way heavier duty than the $40-70 equivalent cheap gas springs I've used (Still using a cheap one and it sucks but its secondary)

Note that the Freedom HD = "Heavy Duty", it was designed to hold up iMacs and AiO's (All in One's) so yeah it REALLY holds up.


Can't really justify anything else anymore, this thing is too nice. Desk clamp is really nice too. Plus I like its' extended arm length and I pull my monitor in and out by a difference of approx. 2 ft too because I vary from standing up at my desk to leaning back (reclined) and pulling it towards me.

For my X34 which weighs 16.XX LBs, I got this mount, which works amazingly, though you'll have to tighten the spring to hold it up, afterwards it'll be secure wherever you place it, it also has little clips for cable management which is nice.

If you have a monitor that is heavier than it's max weight (17.8lbs) then there's the heavier duty mount which supports up to 30lbs. I love the Ergotech with their sleek look on your desk!

If you want something a little cheaper, this Ergotech Freedom Arm HD holds a ton of weight and is well built. I have a 39 inch 4k TV mounted to it and it stays up and articulates just fine. Your 20lbs is actually the minimum for this one so it should work great.

Make sure to check the weight rating for your monitor though. The linked one is tension loaded so if you put a <20lb monitor on it (the arm is for 20-30lbs) you may run into issues.

Edit: Also do yourself a favor and have a buddy for mounting an UW monitor. It's so much easier.

i personally use the ergo tech freedom arm HD. i think you might want to go with the normal one though. the HD is too powerful, so I can't quite push my x34 down that far without using like strings to push the tension down if that makes sense.

as for aesthetics its got a modern look imo. even has some cable management things undernear so u can possibly hide ur display port cable!

VESA mounts are just referring to the type of standardized mount on the back of monitors. How a manufacturer decides to use that mount leads to products like clamping monitor arms or multiple monitor stands or simply just stand replacements.

I can't seem to find any mounts with a weighted stand to use for a monitor arm.

Here's an example of how a clamp might work on a desk. There shouldn't be any damage to the desk.

I've been pretty happy with it. Better than any other gas-spring arm I've purchased. I still wouldn't put multiple monitors on it though.

The monitor is 25 lbs. The only arm that I can find for under $100 that supports that kind of weight is the Ergotech Freedom HD, which supports up to 30lb monitors.

I only got the fleximount arm because the ergotron was out of stock. Personally I'd go with the ergotron. Better build quality, more adjustability, and supports a heavier load and easier adjustment of the tension settings. On the fleximount I had to tighten the PISS out of the tension bolt to get it to hold my 31 in without slowly drooping. I don't have any problems with my Ergotron and the LG is heavier at about 11lbs.

Nice! I have the same monitor and suggest to get an arm for it. The stand simply takes up too much desk space. This is the one that is suggested.

Just for the monitors. I find myself just closing/disabling the laptop it's just too small and far away and the pixel mismatch is annoying for my use. I just picked up a nice Samsung 4k for $436 and per-ordered the ps4 pro. Pretty good deal on a 40 inch hdr 4k. I will mount it with the Freedom Arm HD and it will just float above my pc monitor.

There's also the Ergotech Freedom Arm HD. I have the non-HD and it works good. I also have the HD which I attached a crossbar to for 2x 27" monitors. The arm holds the weight perfectly but the tilt plate sags a little. I'm sure it would support a single monitor just fine though. Buyers are saying that it supports the 27" iMac which is 30lbs.
