I've got the note 3 and it's a Zerolemon 10k. I ordered it off amazon. (It turns the phone into a hefty little fucker, but if size was a problem, I wouldn't have picked up a Note 3 anyway. It still fits into my pocket, so I'm fine with that.)

It's pretty surprising how much of a stress relief there is never having to wonder if there's a plug anywhere, or asking for the table near an outlet, or rushing to finish the phone call before the battery runs out.. The sucker just stays on.. Totally worth it for anyone looking for a battery that hauls.

u/ConfessionsAway · 3 pointsr/technology

It's not an external battery case. It's a brand new, larger battery with a case around the phone to hold it in.

Like this.

u/EwanG · 3 pointsr/GalaxyNote3

I was surprised not to see the one I use listed, but then realized most folks probably don't think of this when they think of cases even thought it is one.

I am referring specifically to the ZeroLemmon combination rugged case and 10000 mah battery:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GYD782A

It gives you much of the same protection as the Otter Box while also letting you go days (literally days) without having to recharge. Reviews on the Amazon site are pretty positive as well. If you're going to spend $50-$60 on a case anyway...

All day. Maybe even two. Note 3 with Zerolemon battery. There is no better battery made today.

I have a note 3 with this extended battery and case, I charge my phone every 3 days and that's with brightness at max, power saver off and heavy usage.

The only way i'll upgrade to another phone is if they release a battery for it. I'm hoping that they'll make one for the Note 4.

The newly announced Raspberry Pi model A+ draws 220mA at idle.

http://makezine.com/2014/11/10/raspberry-pi-model-a-revealed-smaller-and-just-20/

> Without the extra components, the Raspberry Pi Model A+ draws about 30% less electrical current than the B+. After booting to the Raspbian login with a USB keyboard and mouse plugged in, the A+ drew about 220 milliamps whereas a B+ with the same setup draws about 310 milliamps.

According to the eLinux Wiki page on the Raspberry Pi camera module:

http://elinux.org/Rpi_Camera_Module

> Make sure the flex cable is inserted the correct way on both ends, and each connector has the locking tab engaged. The RPi + camera draws about 260 mA more current when recording video, than without the camera. The Model B is about 550 mA by itself, so camera use pushes it over 800 mA. Some power supplies, cables, and polyfuses may not maintain 5V onboard at this current load well enough for reliable operation. You can check this with a voltmeter across TP1 and TP2.[15][16]

So, 310 - 220 = 90mA improvement on the A+. That means the A+ recording video will consume about 720mA. That is 5*0.72 = 3.6W of energy required. For 8 hours, you will need a battery with a capacity of 3.6*8= 28.8Wh. A standard Li-Ion battery is 3.7V, so 28.8/3.7 = 7.73Ah = 7730mAh. Assume there's some conversion inefficiency, so we'll need somewhere around an 8000-10000mAh battery pack.

Here's one:

Might be a bit too big.

Here's one for the Note 3:

I would think this would be a reasonable size battery to put into a camera that fits into a front pocket on an officer's uniform. The battery could also be worn on the belt similar to how mining headlamps work. It could use a smaller battery that is replaceable after say 4 hours of operation.

On top of this, the Raspberry Pi, no matter how optimized the new A+ may be, is still a full blown Linux computer running a full Linux stack. The camera interface runs through the hardware video encoder of the GPU which is similar to the ASIC a proper video-only camera would use, but all the losses from the application CPU pulling from the GPU, doing its own OS processing, and pushing to the SD card would be minimized by a streamlined ASIC. This could cut the power down a bit, but would be made up by the addition of an ADC and mic for audio. The camera could also be disabled when the officer is in his car, as the car already has its own cameras with a much larger battery.

With this mine lasts a few days with even heavy use. Disclaimer: phone is now a blunt force self-defense weapon.

u/hjb345 · 2 pointsr/Android

Look at ZeroLemon batteries, 10,000mAh battery with possibly the most robust case I've ever seen, less than $60.

If you're getting a decent phone for $60 I'm impressed!

u/threeinchesoffury · 2 pointsr/samsung

It comes with the ugly black case but they came out with some rugged cases that also will fit here

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/GalaxyNote3

Oh, I guess I didn't specify, but I meant the Zerolemon extended battery, which fits on the Note 3 in its own case (see here). It's not an external charger, so no cables needed.

u/Papigrande23 · 1 pointr/GalaxyNote3

You need to check Amazon for an extended battery. I don't know how to post pix, but my battery life, with HEAVY downloads and constant Bluetooth (smart watch & earpiece) is
36% remaining, with 23 hours, 7 minutes and 6 seconds. This is just a random day for me..

And that's why I buy devices with removable batteries so I can buy things like [this] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00GYD782A/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1396715287&sr=1-1&pi=SY200_QL40)

u/RightEZ · 1 pointr/gadgets

I bought one of these http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00GYD782A and solved all my problems. I think external batteries are silly.

u/metilco · 1 pointr/gadgets

The added thickness is a dealbreaker for most people, but this 10,000 mah zero lemon case pretty much triples the already decent battery life. I run 100% brightness with data/wifi/gps/bluetooth on all day, and lasts me a minimum of 48 hours (and I use it heavily).

I also ran the phone on an unpowered MHL->HDMI adapter using a bluetooth gamepad to play games on a tv, and it ran for over 10 hours straight.

Bit of a mini-rant, but the freedom of never having to worry about turning down brightness/etc really can't be understated.

u/tannimkyraxx · 1 pointr/note3

I bought one of these about 6 months ago https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GYD782A/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_TIWMwbW5YX69Q it just about doubles the thickness of the phone and adds a bit of weight, but the trade off is I can go 2-3 days without charging and I am always on my phone.

u/Changsta · 1 pointr/Android

He most likely has this.

Most people are getting 3-4 days of heavy use. 5+ days of normal use.

u/scy1192 · 1 pointr/Android

Galaxy Note 3 + 10,000mAh extended battery (3x the size of the standard battery which is already really good)

u/blorg · 1 pointr/news

There is, but you need to put a new back on it that makes it absolutely huge.

http://www.amazon.com/Zerolemon-Zeroshock-Shockproof-Dustproof-Compatible/dp/B00GYD782A

Since the battery in the Note 3 is removable I would just carry a spare if you want longer battery life. Far more compact solution.

u/SRTman · 1 pointr/NoStupidQuestions

I'm not familiar with that particular product, but I did buy this battery about 2 months ago for my Note 3. It is also 10,000 mAh and I recommend it 100%. I'm averaging about 3-5 days on a charge depending on amount of time roaming since I don't really get service at all where I work.

u/they_have_bagels · 1 pointr/headphones

Well, it's a fair bit thicker than the original battery. But I purposely went for the Note 3 because it was huge; I don't care about thickness. It's pretty damn awesome.
