Every Heart a Doorway
Best book I've read recently is Every Heart a Doorway. It follows an explicitly asexual character in her attempts to reintegrate into society after a magical adventure. It's basically this xkcd but longer. I can't recommend it enough.
Without knowing why you want to avoid stories with romantic entanglements, I'm not sure if this book will speak to you or not. However, Seannan McGuire's Every Heart A Doorway features a female Ace protagonist who is treated entirely with respect, both by the story and by the other characters in the book. I don't have a scientific survey or anything, but I follow the author on Tumblr and a lot of asexuals have written asks thanking her for writing it, so if that's why you want a story with no sex, this might be the one for you. If you're asking for other reasons, you still might like the book because it's a good story and easily stands on its own merits regardless of the reader's orientation (source: I'm not asexual and I liked it a lot).
So, it's 81 degrees right now in Toronto, but, with humidex, feels like 104. Fuck, I hate this heat so much, really wish I was in San Francisco right now!
OK, I'll stop complaining about the weather and focus on the Giants. :) The guys have been absolutely rolling, let's hope they can keep this going for a little while longer!
I had a busy weekend, actually. On Saturday, I went to the Stratford Festival with my theatre Meetup group and enjoyed picnic lunch followed by terrific production of A Chorus Line. Fun day despite the hot and humid weather lol. Here's some photos:
On Sunday, I went to my admin volunteer shift in the morning for this arts festival, and immediately had to dash to my YA Bookclub Meetup group meeting on the other side of the city lol. (If anyone enjoys YA books, I highly recommend the book we read for June book club.)
