I've been having a lot of fun playing the card game "Exploding Kittens". I can't stand how "internet-y" the design and humor is, so I decided to re-skin it for my personal use. There's 40 unique characters in the deck! Since I don't have any kind of copyright to the game or the art, I'm not going to distribute the files I designed, but still thought you all would find it cool.

My suggestions for fun two player games that have a small footprint are below. I haven't tried playing these in a pub, but I think they should work.

Love Letter - I played this at a party recently and enjoyed it. There are various themes, including a munchkins variant.

Pass the Pigs - I used to bring this game with me on plane trips because it is compact and playable on a tray table.

Toss Up - Fun dice game, simple rules, could be turned into a drinking game if you are so inclined.

Timeline - Lots of different versions of this game, all have to do with history, but you can pick different topics, and even combine packs.

Exploding Kittens - random fun, there is also a NSFW version that is full of boob/penis/poop/etc jokes.

Hanabi - I have the tile version of this, which is a little bulkier, but is much more drink and food resistant.

My suggestion is Disney Pictopia...it's fun, it's not hard to learn and a single game only takes about 30 min depending on how things go.

We also played Exploding Kittens at the ILs over Thanksgiving and that is hilarious. :D

We've also played Watch Ya Mouth at the ILs and that is a super fun game.

I bought some INSIDE3 cube puzzle thing. I've no idea if it'll hit the spot or not but looks interesting anyway. There also seems to be a site where you can trade them in so effectively upgrade your difficulty cheaper than just buying new ones, if she likes it!

As for other ideas... maybe something of a board/card game? Something like exploding kittens which is pretty easy to understand, has cute pictures, and largely seems to go down well with all audiences (read: might make having to suffer time with your family mildly more amusing). I bought this to play with friends and stuff but I showed it to my mum when a couple of people were over before and she still loves to mention how much fun it was. I've played it with colleagues etc. there's also a NSFW version if you have a sibling or someone who might prefer a bit more humour that way!

One Night Ultimate Werewolf. You've only got a couple of days till 4/20, but you might be able to find it or some other fun board game at a Toys-r-Us.

Exploding Kittens is another great one.

💣

I'm going to fire up the smoker in the morning, and smoke a 6 lb chuck roast for making Pepper Stout Beef. Then people can make sandwiches in the afternoon.

Joking Hazard. Its by the guys who do Cyanide and Hapiness comics and it is hilarious to play with 4+ people.

kingdomino. A twist on a traditional domino game

Exploding Kittens. You try to avoid getting the exploding kitten card. Its hilarious.

This is a great offer! I'd like to enter for Exploding Kittens here: http://amzn.com/B010TQY7A8

It would be for the whole family...but I chose this because 1. My son ADORES cats...and is into the whole survival genre, so exploding anything is up his alley. And 2. I love The Oatmeal, who created this.

We have been gifted more than 5 items, but no family games so I figured I'd throw our name in the hat anyways.

Thanks and Merry Christmas!

GTA3, and the effects of violences on kids, PART 5.5 WHOOPS off topic, back to QUANTIFYING

  • So , ignoring psychopaths, because clearly I do not understand this area, how about sociopaths and regular kiddies? Related to GTA 3. How do you quantify the effects of video games on kids, the decade old question, and how would you measure it in todays society? What would the test look like?

  • Its no different than how I mind-read people by using specific movement patterns in guild wars 1 random arenas to predict who the enemy team was targeting based on triangulating their movement positions and the direction they were facing in the arena to formulate a strategy. Then execute strategy, such as wipe off enemy A off the field first due to threat level. Whew. Okay, its like that. I learned it in gaming. Anyways, what you have to do is set up a well elaborate trap (in science, we call it a controlled environment / scientific method) to test the effects of kids decision in a time-space continuum result (e.g. there's tons of possibilities of choices that people can make and affects end result)

  • Next you identify those results. You must correlate everything in a casual cause/effect relationship though.

  • What would such a test look like in gaming?

GTA3, and the effects of violences on kids, PART 5.6 Modelling the situation

  • As I learned in E-sports you want to have everything well defined. Like guild wars 1, you felt risk vs reward well. In guild wars 2 PvP , you weren't sure if the person was just lucky dodge rolling or you just plain suck, and identifying good vs meh players is nearly impossible. Same shit

  • The test is obviously always defined a binary situation, e.g. YES / NO answers like in surveys. the limitations here of those survey types is that they do not explore a whole lot, and do not really explore more grey areas. On that psychopathy test, some questions are a hard to answer because its a grey area. http://i.imgur.com/ncWIdy6.png. Some view it in black/white, not everyone views it the same way

  • What you need is a controlled gaming environment that is sandbox in appearance on an offset, but actually rigidly controlled such that datapoints can be analyzed. As I've played guild wars 1 random arenas, I will use this analogy example to best describe how an environment would be setup. I have no idea how I will explain it or what it is, going wing it

also I just ate pizza and drank some milk. I havne't slept lately much, less than 5 hours everyday. For some reason rubbing one off helps me stay awake, I do not know why this is, something with bloodflow and dopamine. I barely rely on caffeine

  • EXPERIMENT SETUP analogy to guild wars

  • OKAY let's say you want to analyze mass murder behavioral tendencies in children growing up. First things first, you probably want to put a violent game in there, just to ellicit better reactions. Let's say, its guild 1 random arenas , except its bloody and gorey as hell snice that's the easiest way for me thinking it. Basically if you incapacite someone, it goes into "mortal combat FINISH HIM" bloody hell scenario

  • So, conducting a experimental study, following scientific method (question, hypothesis, experiment, analysis, results / comparison to other studies), specifically the EXPERIMENT part, you need to :

    • Blind study - kids being tested need to be told this is a fun game and not know its being tested at all, this introduces bias. Preferably double blind study, such that testers are automated so no human bias here either

    • Controlled variables - The game itself, Guild wars 1 random arenas

    • Independent variables- Variables that affect DEPENDENT variables - Basically you make the game bloody as hell now and assume that wanting that is a sign of mass murder behavior? (Its not, you can't assume this)

    • Dependent Variables - results that have been affected by dependent variables, this is shit we correlate to casual correlations (e.g. psychopathy from kids behavior in games) - how many times kid won and caused a bloody mess

  • Well fuck, this is harder to run an experiment. Hm. I'll have to revisit this another day, DOIT0 what you need is a more fixed Linear -type game, kind of like shitty final fantasy 13 instead of a giant clusterfuck open world that's harder to measure. Too tired, going to go to bed.

GTA3, and the effects of violence on kids, PART 6 SUMMARY

  • So how does this all tie back to me, and Guild wars 1 and 2? Instead of violence and learning the lessons there, I learned business in the best aspect possible in a sandbox, and gained much wisdom from it But in the worst aspect possible with social retardation (Superiority complex issues) until university.

twas writing this earlier, on COMP SCIENCE post, https://www.reddit.com/r/OneNote/comments/46yl72/writing_a_book_for_onenoteevernote_what_things_do/d2tpmud continuing from there, chronologically. Also, beta overwatch came out. And reminder on phone, 11AM to 12PM I set forth, overrides my UI on my homepage android. looked like this http://i.imgur.com/bWsNklz.png

First 300 comment post was a giant 8 week sprint. This is the nextt 2 week sprint so far (I am on week 11). [QUOTE1] Writing this post is blending my two giant PMT tag clusters together, as it can't be done in one night. Takes time to meld process

Fucking robocalls, someone in my network leaked my phone number. I think i know who it is, this is what fucking happens when you give your personal number out to people who can't for the life of them manage their own security send submission to donotcall.gov. I know this to be true, since i rarely ever give out my phone # and add people on facebook messenger instead

  • I was looking at that. Basically, there's a few demographics of gamers , in MMO. Bartle test, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bartle_Test, achievers, killers, exploreres, socializers. What I do in MMO is the what I also do in card games: KILLERS psychology. I'm kind of an ass-hat when it comes to playing board games with people, I play to win. For instance, I played "A ticket to ride" and I basically wanted to fuck everyone over really hard. In monopoloy, its this https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/42vd6n/how_to_win_at_monopoly_and_lose_all_your_friends/. I am that type of player. In all aspects of gaming

  • Its why I'm a huge troll online more than KenM at least in video games. I harass the shit out of people growing up, as in real life, when you get bullied you bully others, so i bullied people online a lot. Cyberbullying. Can't recall a lot of it I did though. *Controversally* also why I also figure out so much shit in gaming and applied to real life. KILLER+ACHIEVER basically. But I had my own sense of achievement not the games' predefined shitty ones. Also, why everyone also followed me on guild wars 2 as well daphoenix excala d/d elemntalist troll 50v1.

need to restart PC Evernote changes it UI to be bigger, http://i.imgur.com/7Y8yBrv.png, another reason why I fucking don't use one software , because backup / don't feel like being a test guinea pig for new UI changes. Also, "NEW NOTE" is in blue color now. Its not a bad UI addition change though, kind of like it, feels more like onenotes REAL ESTATE area now (which is probably what they were going for). Evernote has made some really shitty UI changes in the past, this time its better now. It looks like sort of that outlook-ish feel to it, that "Material Design" that google is promoting, the feel is very similar. **Tags are now all indexed on the backend quicker too
, as I have 1000 plus tags, sometimes it takes awhile to load them. I noticed the smooth integration time on tag assignments now . Evernote has just come up with an update on android OCR recognition as well was on my feedly. IDK how i never had google reader (defunct) or inoreader or feedly before. I've been missing out on the good shit.

I need to find a large enough group of friends that I can regularly play Shadows Over Camelot. That game is super fun.

But for 2 player games stuff like Zombie Dice, Exploding Kittens, and Fluxx are a boatload of fun.

There's Munchkin Treasure Hunt which is pretty fun and easy to grasp

I also highly recommend Exploding Kittens

These are on the easier side and are a great starting point to get acclimated to board games and card games.
