>its not like i was born to farmers or had money to go buy tools and take courses.

But why would you need any of those things?

Isn't your "food forest" going to just effortlessly drop abundant food into your mouth whenever you need it too?

And won't your "plant-based polymers" just magically fashion themselves into tools, clothing and housing and such?

I mean I thought you had this all worked out?

My attitude isn't "defeatist" -- it is knowledgeable, experienced, and realistic -- whereas yours is that of an ignorant whining child. (Your problem is not that people are exploiting and oppressing you, it is that you are and always have been exploiting and oppressing yourself, you have repeatedly fallen into the traps like the majority of other people -- financially stupid people.)

Similarly to the second one, I am currently reading Financially Stupid People Are Everywhere. I read personal finance books as a hobby and a way to stay motivated to improve my financial house, but this one is not what I thought it'd be. It has a lot of personal finance aspects to it, but there is a lot of information about what caused the financial crisis and for us to realize that although the banks are not necessarily out to help us, we can't just be stupid people and accept all the shenanigans. Bad summary, but I like the book.
