Note that Amazon is selling Civ V Gold (which is all the DLC + the first expansion), plus Civ IV complete, plus XCOM: Enemy Unknown for $20. Link here.

Somewhat a better deal than just plain Civ V for 7.50, especially since the expansion is a huge upgrade.

Some of the soul-eating games from my Steam library:

  • Terraria

  • Mount & Blade Warband, along with its Napoleonic Wars expansion

  • Team Fortress 2, especially if you get involved in trading

  • Any of the Paradox grand strategy games (Crusader Kings 2, etc.), but I recommend downloading the demo first because they're pretty niche games

  • Civilization 4/5. In my opinion, 4 is a better game but 5 is better for beginners. If you want to decide for yourself, there's a pack on sale on Amazon that includes both, along with XCOM.

  • Dota 2, or really any MOBA like League of Legends of Heroes of Newerth

  • GTA San Andreas

  • Torchlight 1/2

  • The Binding of Isaac, if you're into that type of game

  • Saints Row: The Third

    Great price considering the Steam prices list Civ V Gold Edition as $49.99 and XCom as $39.99. I think both had 75% off sales giving them a $12.49 and $9.99 price, respectively. This bundle on Amazon is 20 bucks and includes the Civ 5 Gold Edition which covers all content currently available for the game (G&K, all DLC Civs, maps, etc.) as well as Civ IV and XCOM which are fantastic games. Brave New World is currently 27 bucks to preorder the downloadable version.

Oh definitely start at Prince. I had very little experience with Civ (see previous comment) or really any similar games outside of Pharoah/Caesar and starting at Prince made it a lot more fun/challenging to start. Civ is REALLY boring if you start winning and stay winning (after like the first game...the first total domination game is pretty satisfying). And yes, wait for the epic sale! I actually got this for $20 recently (even though I already had most of IV and base V) http://www.amazon.com/Firaxis-Complete-Pack-Online-Game/dp/B00CPBZDPE which had IV and V complete and XCOM as well...great deal if you didn't have any of them. Unfortunately it's over, but keep an eye out on other sites besides Steam for good deals!

Magicka is incredibly fun, I was actually just playing that. Right now, it's $2.50 on Amazon, because of their Mayhem sale (heheh punny). Also, Borderlands is fun which is also on sale on amazon. I'll give you a free copy of Dota 2, I have way too many and already have it. I bet FC3 is a bit out of the price range, but I strongly recommend that, too.

Buy this, you get Civ5 Gold Edition (Errry single DLC/expansion), CivIV Complete (Errry single dlc/expansion) and XCOM:EU.

Go onto /r/SteamGameSwap and trade away the stuff you don't want for stuff you do.

Just saying, that's what I'd do...

Edit: You're likely to be able to trade the extra stuff for a copy of the BNW expansion, which would be icing on the cake.
