It's a reference to a popular baby's toy known as a see and say.

I am Catholic.

It is my belief that every false religion was, at some point, made up. Hinduism, for example, is genuinely believed by millions of people today. But at some point in the past it was created, and is in that way just as fictional as the Ouija board. We can point to the Ouija being owned by Hasbro, and I do think that's kind of hilarious, but the fact still remains that people who use it are often genuinely trying to interact with spirits.

Tarot cards are just cards, but the people doing readings are genuinely trying to get in contact with the other side. When people would read entrails in the past those were just meat, but the people reading them were genuinely looking for answers. When people throw dice today in order to divine those are just dice, but the people are still in the same spot. When you consort with spirits and false gods you are unknowingly consorting with demons. It doesn't matter if you use a See and Say to do it, it's still dangerous. Does that make sense?

As to what the devil is responsible for, well, a lot of things. Possessions for one thing. And lies. Satan does exercise his influence in the world and is called the Prince of Lies for a reason. I'd credit our current cultural belief that children are to be feared and avoided to Satan, as well as the belief that you can do away with them in utero without worry. He doesn't force us to do things (unless you are possessed) but he does work every day against God's kingdom by tempting God's children to sin and twisting the Truth wherever he can.
