Is the adapter you bought similar to [this one](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001G4LOCC/ref=ox_sc_mini_detail?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER)?

I have this one - the trick with these is to take off the screw that comes in the adapter itself. Take that screw off and toss it. Then screw that adapter into your M42 lens... It will basically serve as a non-interchangeable adapter (but they are inexpensive, so you can get 2 if you need it for 2 M42s...)

If you do this, you will not mess up your camera, I also use a K-50. I got this info from the pentaxforums I believe...

These pictures: [1](https://i.imgur.com/FJMCJrs.jpg), [2](https://i.imgur.com/eIOmDvg.jpg), [3](https://i.imgur.com/dNAeEOA.jpg) show my adapter (on a M42 SMC-Tak 35mm f3.5).

Edit - SOrry for the formatting, I thought I knew how to do this!

The Photodiox isn't a bad adapter - definitely not on the same level as the Pentax adapter, but not as bad as the horrible ones that get stuck or cause you to lose infinity focus. I do recommend buying the official Pentax adapter for people who really want to use M42 lenses a lot, but if you're just trying out a few lenses before committing I think this one isn't the end of the world: https://www.amazon.com/Fotodiox-Adapter-Pentax-Camera-K-5IIs/dp/B001G4LOCC

Your camera uses the Pentax K Bayonet Mount, so as long as the lens really uses the same mount you should be able to get it to mount and not move without needing force.

Check the mount very carefully and look for any problems. Compare the mount from the 75-260 to the mount on the 50mm lens. They should look identical and not have any bent parts or extra metal anywhere.

If you have a digital camera or even a cellphone with a decent camera it's not too hard to "scan" 35mm film. You can do it by placing the negative on a light panel or another phone with a white screen, and take a picture of it as close as possible.

Or you can pick up a film scanner for around $200 which would do a great job.

You can easily convert the Pentax Screw mount to the Pentax K Mount with a cheap adapter.

Starting with film could be challenging. I personally think it helps to have a digital camera to learn on, since you can make a lot of mistakes really quickly and it doesn't cost you anything.

But I shoot film too and it's really fun! :)
