I'm halfway through Galileo's Dream by Kim Stanley Robinson and have been really enjoying it. It's historical fiction, taking elements of the real history and weaving it into a sci-fi tale about people in the future living on the Galilean Moons (the first four moons of Jupiter, which Galileo discovered). Well worth a look.
