We mix Garlic Barrier w peppermint oil and water in a sprayer and it's been doing the trick for us for 2 summers.

I've thought the same thing. The mosquito company claims otherwise, but that's not entirely surprising given their interests.

I did find this product which seems similar, not sure how different the commercial stuff would be.
