u/furhart · 4 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Is this a gaming build? If so, then you might want to get an i5 6600k. The i5 is more than enough and will save you close to $100.

As for the graphics card, $240 is a lot for a 960. You can get this for $20 extra and it'll give A LOT more performance.

u/axloc · 4 pointsr/buildapc

$30 more. It also performs significantly better.

u/-kamilla · 3 pointsr/buildapcsales

For those of you who can no longer use SAVE15 on jet.com, this GPU (WINDFORCE OC 6GB) is usually on Newegg and Amazon for $269.99.

For an extra $20 on Amazon and extra $30 on Newegg, you can get the AORUS 6GB (triple fan).

CPU Cooler: Buy the Cyrorig H7. It's the best in it's price point at the moment, and looks amazing. You won't need a better cooler for anything unless you want to overclock, which you really don't need to do with a CPU as good as yours.

Video Card: For 1080p@60fps, I would advise the GTX 1060 or the RX 480. Both will crush 60fps at 1080p, but if you want extra future-proofing at a higher price, go for the GTX 1070. The 1060(try for 6GB), and the RX 480(try for 8GB) are excellent cards that will run any modern game well, even at 1440p. The 1070 is even better, but only really needed if you want something like Hairworks for The Witcher 3 or intensive mods for Skyrim.

RAM:Since you have a motherboard with 4 RAM slots, get another 2 4GB sticks of your current RAM and run it in quad channel, 16GB in quad channel is amazing for modern games, although your RAM's speed isn't probably high enough nowadays.

PSU:Upgrade if you want to(I'd advise it), but I won't go advising you on any because PSU's can be so inconsistent. Just try for one above 600w that gets good reviews and few failures, unless you feel OK about your current one.

Gigabyte windforce 1060 6gb oc edition. Just checked again. Only see one dp and one hdmi.

For $$30 more is the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 WINDFORCE OC 6G worth the difference over the Zotac, or not really? https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01JNUO6BG/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A1HU0UETW2PFPN&psc=1

u/TinyRick96 · 2 pointsr/buildmeapc

Ok, one more thing:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01JNUO6BG/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1474945837&sr=8-1&pi=SX200_QL40&keywords=gtx+1060&dpPl=1&dpID=51wcPo7WeEL&ref=plSrch

(let me kno if the link works)

my friend suggested this graphics card instead. he said it has smaller RAM, but makes up for it in clock speeds. Whats your opinion on it?

u/willswill · 2 pointsr/BuildAPCSalesMeta

That's rough. The only other place I've seen any of those below MSRP is Amazon. It's with a Mail-in though

u/jaijasty2 · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

The GTX 1060 6GB is way above an RX 480. GTX 1060 3GB is at the same price point.

Maybe if you're not in the US, but even MSRP for the 1060 at 6GB is higher.

u/Jody707 · 2 pointsr/computers

This seems to be a good one for that price. I believe that it will go down for black friday or it has already gone down.

u/bootybooty · 2 pointsr/buildapcsales

how does this compare to a 1060, like this

u/mdd86 · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

also, for a quick clarification....the GTX 1060 is a pretty nice card, I'm running on myself though I have the 6gb. If you decide to pick up this deal I think the video card will be a bit under powered for the VR head set but to use as a non VR gaming PC it will hold it's own. Just food for thought, this is still a really good deal. I personally would jump on it and just upgrade the card 3-4 months down the road to a 1060 6gb for about $250 and I don't think you'll have to worry about power supply.

https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-1060-WINDFORCE-GV-N1060WF2OC-6GD/dp/B01JNUO6BG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1481324813&sr=8-1&keywords=gigabyte+gtx+1060+6gb

u/mrazn · 2 pointsr/bapcsalescanada

I've been holding out for a good deal on an RX 480 8 GB or GTX 1060 6GB, is this or this the lowest or close to the lowest I will be able to find either of them? I'm considering holding out until Friday for a better deal then jumping on one of these if one doesn't come up.

Edit: I just found this deal but I've never used Mike's Computer Shop. Seems like a good deal, is Mike's a good place to buy from?

u/SundownKid · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I'd get one with 2 fans and a backplate, but otherwise it should be fine.

Something like this for example: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814137018

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01JNUO6BG/?tag=pcpapi-20

u/deekster_caddy · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I just picked up a GTX1060, they are getting cheap now. If you don't need to game during the 5 weeks they need to RMA the card, you could use the onboard graphics of the H97M - otherwise any modern GPU should be resalable in two months or so on ebay for not a ridiculous loss... something like this is $250 and won't completely suck: https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-1060-WINDFORCE-GV-N1060WF2OC-6GD/dp/B01JNUO6BG/

edit - whoops, just read that H97M does not have onboard graphics. But still, you can sell your temp GPU used for not much of a loss after a few weeks.

u/RogueLeaderJ · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I would get this one. It's currently $20 off AND has a $20 rebate.

u/kulapeta · 2 pointsr/pcgaming

Which country are you from? Are you checking online shops or physical shops in your town? Which version of GTX 1060 are you specifically interested in? How much money do you want to spend on it? I don't know why you are having trouble finding it in stock, I just checked a few gtx 1060 versions from different manufacturers and on several websites, and they all say 'in stock' or 'available'.

Personally I recommend Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 WINDFORCE OC 6G (GV-N1060WF2OC-6GD).

Example link to Amazon / Link to Newegg

u/rlsands1997 · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Think I'll sell the 7950s and snag this. Thanks for the input

u/the_dayman · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Nope on the synergy. I've got a 1060 and love it, this one just got a pretty great discount down to $240 if you're ok using rebates.

u/roastduckie · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Quick question on the MSI board vs. an Asus? Any major difference on the quality of either board?

I'm looking at these two:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B012NH05UW/ref=ox_sc_act_title_4?ie=UTF8&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&th=1
And this has an A reference there's also a E available I don't know what any of that means.

And this one which you already saw earlier.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015ZKJS66/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
Which has a Mortar reference and I have no idea what that means.

Also for GPU

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01K1JTT8S/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A8AFHGL03OEF2

And then I've been hearing nVidia which I guess is also supposed to be very good. I don't know what all this means. Can you help?

u/SquishyDolphin · 1 pointr/PcMasterRaceBuilds

You're welcome.:-). Oh and also, you can get an i5 7500 instead of an i5 7600k. They are around 40 dollars cheaper and only have 9% less power. they perform about the same while gaming. Also, this is a better deal on a GTX 1060. And this is a good deal on 8gb ram. Also, a z270 seems overkill for your build if you don't plan on over clocking. A b150 or a b250 would suit you better. This is a good deal. If you get a 120gb SSD, the 1tb hard drive I mentioned, the nzxt s340, the ram I showed you and the b150 that I showed you, you will probably be able to fit in a GTX 1080 instead of a GTX 1060, which is much better. It can run the games you mentioned at 1440p at 144fps on ultra settings or even 4k at 60 fps. Try this list

Thanks for the lengthy reply, I really appreciate it and will look into those mods! I guess I should have clarified but I got the 6GB version of the 1060, not the 3GB so this should be a pretty big upgrade from my 660 ti. Is the card you have the 6GB or 3GB version? You mentioned mods being "performance friendly" with the 1060, were you saying that as the card wasn't able to handle more graphically intensive mods?

u/xiic · 1 pointr/bapcsalescanada

Is there a reason why the Gigabyte 1060 is cheaper than all the other ones I can find?

https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01JNUO6BG/?tag=pcp0f-20

or I have to go up to $350 + shipping and/or mail in rebates for MSI or ASUS

At that price I feel like I might as well go up for a 1070.

u/uberstar100 · 1 pointr/graphicscard

Easy! Get yourself a GTX 1070 (Any company is fine, except for EVGA) If you are going to game on new titles.
Unless you play MOBAS and FPS such as CS:GO, then go for a GTX 1060 or the 1050 TI.

Here, i'll give you links to the graphic cards mentioned above
1050 TI
1060
1070

Now unfortonatley, you are going to have to higher your budget for the 1070 if you really do some hardcore game. But for you, since you only do game, I recommend the 1060.

u/Subiedu · 1 pointr/buildapc

Sorry I didn't see they mentioned the 1060. I had read elsewhere the 1060 wasn't affected since it runs cooler. This is definitely a EVGA only thing though.

A non-EVGA alt for the 1060 could be the Gigabyte Windforce. Should be small enough for your needs.
https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-1060-WINDFORCE-GV-N1060WF2OC-6GD/dp/B01JNUO6BG/ref=pd_lpo_147_bs_t_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=MWD4T2HK10FFK9F20N2Q

EDIT: length comes to 223.52mm on the Windforce converted from inches off Amazon.

Does any think that this Gigabyte 1060 6G would fit in this prebuilt case?

u/Skoot99 · 1 pointr/bapcsalescanada

I just ordered this Gigabyte GTX 1060

Did-... Did I do okay?

Is this the one everyone says has coil whine? Are there any issues with this I should know about?

u/lennoxonnell · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace
u/bleu_boy · 1 pointr/buildapc

That mobo seems great for the price, but there is one concern. According to this post, H110 mobos skimp out sound. I'm currently sporting a pair of Sennheiser M2s. Not amazing hi-fi, but I do enjoy quality in my listening experience. Would the H110 be just fine?

I'll probably stick with 1060, but your mention of single v dual fan cards really got to me. This single fan EVGA is $4 more than this dual fan Gigabyte. I'm assuming you'd choose the Gigabyte based on better cooling?

By the way, thanks for responding!

I see. That AMD card is quite cheap and looks workable, but I wouldn't expect it to be the panacea. I'm also considering the ASUS ROG Strix GeForce GTX 1660 Ti:

Yup, $400 CAD smackeroo's for it. ($450 when all is said and done) It was my first big flashy gpu upgrade (last card was a GTX 750Ti, not bad, not great) and was so excited to buy it that I overlooked getting a better deal xD Not my proudest moment, but I don't regret it. That 400 bucks is in the past now, and my new GPU is in the present :P

I tried SSE and I absolutely love how with only a few mods you can achieve the same results as a heavy-ish load-order in Classic. Only shame is that we don't have SKSE64 yet :( There was supposed to be a beta in.. april?? Hoping that means that SKSE64 isn't too too far away yet.

GTX

RX 580

They were on sale, so I was drawn to them. Any opinion?

u/swagilleri · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Would this model be good for the GTX 1060? link My brother said he would prefer an nVidia card because he wants the Shadowplay.

u/x_Sligh_x · 1 pointr/buildapc

Great! The meta these days that for 1080p @ 60Hz, your best bet with a GPU choice is a 1060 6gb or an RX 580 8GB. They should allow you to run most of today's current games at max or close to max settings, and your budget fits these cards perfectly (as does your current system and PSU, so take your pick)

1060 6GB choices: 1, 2

RX 580 - 1, 2

My 2 cents. The 570 is also a great card, and will save you about $50, and will deliver medium to high settings with no issue. Your call here.

u/Atheistic_Logic · 1 pointr/civ

I would dispute both of those claims.

First you wrote: The 1060 is a lot more expensive though.

Really? Brand for brand the difference is on average 50$. For example

https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-1060-WINDFORCE-GV-N1060WF2OC-6GD/dp/B01JNUO6BG/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1474908716&sr=1-1&keywords=GTX+1060

That is 200 (AMD) vs 250 (Nvidia). I do not see 50$ as qualifying for a LOT more expensive. And that is also comparing the 8GB version of the 1060.

Second, price performance ratios are always a tricky topic. You are simply better off comparing the benchmarks, and then asking is 50$ worth it for Nvidia, holistically, taking into account other factors such as driver support.

I would 100% be confident in advising anyone buying a 1060 over a 470. If you care to explain why you think it is the other way around, I would like to hear it.

u/QuacksUpForDonuts · 1 pointr/buildapc

Is it worth buying a higher priced version of a GPU, or can I buy a lower priced card and in the future overclock to a higher speed? The GPU in question is the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 Windforce OC I'm looking to get the 6GB version and primarily the 1771 Mhz clock and the 1797 Mhz clock version. Is the difference worth it? Can I overclock it myself negating the need to buy the higher clock version?

Now if anyone can suggest a better card for cheaper that is 6GB, double fan, low psu usage, and no overheating problems then I am up for suggestions.

I think you would be better off with the 1070 as it does great with 1080p and 1440p. GTV 5 is very demanding so it would do well with it. But if you want something a bit less then I would go with this: 8.8 inches long, perfect fit

And what will the difference be?

u/rhombae · 0 pointsr/buildapc

I have nearly the exact same build as you, i5-4590, 16 gb ddr3, 650w EVGA gold, and I upgraded to a Gigabyte G1 1060 6gb a few months ago. It will handle Fallout 4 and Skyrim at 1080p 60 fps no problem. At the very worst it might dip into mid 50's if really heavily modded/everything is on ultra (like god rays in FO4) in some areas.

That being said, the rx 480 would do the same, and might be cheaper. I've had bad experiences with amd cards before which is why I didnt go for it. Don't listen to Ireyes53 though, the 1060 will do what you want just fine if you are set on green team, but do consider the 480 instead if you are on a budget.

If you are going to be playing at 1440 or at 144mhz then its a better idea to save up for a 1070.

edit: instead of a single fan card, for slightly less you could get this Gigabyte Windforce 1060 or this MSI 1060

For about $20-30 less though you could get an 8gb 480 like this MSI Amour or this XFX GTR
