Very few people actually need 16 GB of RAM, but I guess that's up to you.
As for the motherboard, I would recommend getting a GA-Z77-DS3H instead. The GA-Z68AP-D3 was originally designed for Sandy Bridge processors rather than Ivy Bridge processors; though a BIOS update should fix this, the GA-Z77-DS3H may be a safer choice.
I love this build. I would swap the SSD for a 3TB barracuda.

256gig will fill quickly. Or get both! I own a 2500k and it kicks butt on my i7 950. With mobos research the chipset and get the latest. Right now you want a socket 1155 with a Z77 chipset and a 1155 CPU to match. Here is an example of just such a mobo.

That motherboard is not compatiable with that processor.
Thats an AMD Motherboard if you want to keep the motherboard get this for a processor:http://www.amazon.com/AMD-4-Core-Processor-Socket-FD4100WMGUSBX/dp/B005UBNL0A/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1347898052&sr=1-1&keywords=fx4100
If you want to keep the processor get this motherboard:

Thanks for the heads up!

SSD
Hmm..that's the one I was considering.
What would be the recommended Mobo then?
Why that motherboard?
Cheaper option.
Or a Gigabyte.
would you recommend the GA-Z77-DS3H instead?
Is there a functional difference between this motherboard, which is on the recommended list, and this motherboard, which isn't, aside from the fact that the latter motherboard is smaller?
I'm curious because I would like to build a mATX machine, and because the latter motherboard is in stock at a Micro Center near my house.
Also, how picky is a Hackintosh build about RAM? Do I necessarily have to use Corsair Vengeance sticks for best performance, or will something like this work just as well?
