I took a couture sewing class several years ago and had to do a few samples in which lace was sewn to silk organza. I basted the medallions with red or pink thread thinking it would be easier to remove as the lace and organza were white. Big mistake: The thread was slightly fuzzy, and it stuck to the lace. This is why doing samples is a good idea.

A pair of scissors like this or [this] (https://www.amazon.com/Gingher-Curved-Embroidery-Scissors-01-005273/dp/B000UU4O20/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?s=arts-crafts&ie=UTF8&qid=1494873585&sr=1-1-fkmr1&keywords=curved+applique+scissors+Gingher) may be worth buying.

Silk pins, which are very fine, are recommended. But you still would want to baste the lace in place before applying the permanent stitches.

I have embroidery scissors that have a curve in the blade. I also have a seam ripper but these give you more power and more control.

I'm really serious about removing tags from my clothes. Some of those neck tags are sewn on so tightly, it's hard to remove them without damaging the garment.
