I have just got some GoControl Z-Wave dimmable LED Light Bulb, LB60Z-1 when they were on sale. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PJH16UC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They work really well and have a full range of dimming. They also work well with google home. No idea how long they will last, but I have one on my porch light using the "moonlight" service for about 8 hours a night. I should know how long they last fairly soon.

Yes, I'm using the Abode as a hub.

See full list of compatible devices here: http://support.goabode.com/customer/en/portal/articles/2267539-compatible-z-wave-zigbee-devices

I got the Scene Capable Switch and Dimmer:

I also got one of these, which seems to work just fine: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PJH16UC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Abode doesn't have any occupancy sensors yet, but they are working on having one soon.

I bought the bulbs and I love them. I also tried the slyvia bulb and Cree but I had issues with them dropping off too often. I ordered these Bulbs in April and they are awesome. No issues, my only complaint is they are slow to turn off. When turning them off they fade to off over 2-5 sec.

I have been using Cree, Ge Link, Sylvania for a about two years without any issues. Two weeks ago I decided to buy a zwave bulb to see if it would work, it works without any issues. I have these bulbs and this z stick. I use home assistant as my hub. It's very flexible at what it can do, but with that flexibility comes complication and a learning curve. But I think it was well worth it.

I've got those bulbs in almost every light and lamp in my house, along with an Amazon Echo, a couple of motion sensors, and a lot of timing based automation. Look thorough the components home assistant supports for an idea of what you can do.

edit:
The bulbs I linked also come with little plastic bits to go over the switches so people don't turn them off accidentally.

Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but it works with abode and it's a dimmer.

I have it programmed to turn on when an alarm is triggered. Pretty sure it can't flash though.

Just gonna sneak a comment on my own thread...
Ive been researching now, I'm thinking this setup :

Smartthings hub. This should allow me to connect motion sensors and a bunch of other things that I may want to add in the future.

Then add a few of these bulbs.

And finally this to control the coffee maker and maybe a space heater that I want to turn on a bit before I wake up(so I get out of my comfy warm bed and don't have to keep the heat up high overnight)

Samsung SmartThings Outlet, Works with Amazon Alexa https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MI5V5N6/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_npfBybVG81WFT

Thoughts? All that compatible and have limited reliability issues? I want to avoid WiFi devices because I've been reading if your network drops, so does the actions you schedule

After looking at what the harmony can connect to, Smartthings is in there. I'm hoping that means I can add activities to harmony that will allow me to voice control the lights?

Thanks!

Oh - You are very helpful haha. Thank you for your time. I see your point about the Hue lights though - I would be adding another hub to the mix which would be unnecessary.

I have researched the following lights - what are your opinions on them?

OSRAM

GoControl Z-Wave Dimmable LED Light Bulb ($15.00)

I have a 3 month old daughter, that's relevant because my hands are usually full with her.

  1. When I walk into the nursery I would like a light to be dim enough that I can change her diaper but not bright enough to wake her up. (I was thinking door sensor and smart bulb in the nursery closet?) Pull chain - 2nd floor, furthest from garage.

  2. The entry way light when you walk into the home will turn on.
-Front of the house, standard on/off switch.

  3. Closets and pantry lights to turn on when opening the door.
All pull chain. Closer than 1 and 2 relative to garage. Closer than smartthings hub, ~75-50ft from garage? (I should really measure that out)

  4. Motion sensor switch that turns the light on when you walk by it and turns it off when you walk by a second time in the basement.
(Our living space area with the tv - furthest from the garage, closest to smartthings hub.)

You also can buy zwave light bulbs and rf outlets which you can control through Google Home. These do not force you to replace switches.
