First of all, I am very sorry for what you are going through.

I really do commend you on planning ahead and having the vet pay a home visit; this will make it easier on all of you. I've been though this several times with beloved animals, so I will offer some suggestions. I apologise if any of it sounds macabre or upsets you.

• As others have mentioned, dig deep and/or cover the mound with heavy rocks. It really depends on the type of land where you are and the types of animals in your area. Do this in advance if you can, it can be quite a lengthy and strenuous process. I've also done it after my dog has been euthanised and found it quite therapeutic; my Dad helped me and I really appreciated that too.
  
  
• Settle payment beforehand and take care of any formalities with your vet before s/he performs the procedure. This will give you one less thing to worry about afterwards, when you might be feeling very emotional.
  
  
• Try to be as calm and serene as you can. Your emotions affect your dog, so it's worth making a supreme effort to achieve this during your dog's final hour(s) and minutes. I've found that sobbing my heart out in the shower helps; it is separate and muffled enough from the dogs so as not to affect them.
  
  
• Place a disposable bed mat (like the type sold for children) under your dog for him to lie on, before he receives the injections. There can be some stool/urine released as the muscles relax, so a pad will contain any mess and can be disposed of easily.
  
  
• Have a sheet to cover and wrap up the body.
  
  
• If you are not able to bury your dog immediately and particularly if he is large, consider tucking his legs in (like in a curled up to sleep position) as this is easier than digging a bigger grave.
  
  
• If you have any other pets, like dogs or cats, allow them to sniff the body for a few minutes.
  
  
• If he's heavy, use a sturdy blanket underneath so two or more people can share the carrying.
  
  
• Consider having a little ceremony when you bury him, with people who love him and/or are close to you and understand. You can say a few words, share happy memories about him, play some music; whatever feels right for you.
  
  You can also plan how to make his last day(s) special, by giving him whatever treats or outings his health allows. Take pictures of and with him.

These all can be purchased at Walmart, target or any store really. Pampers also has under jams that are pull ups for older children and then of course each store will have their store brand bedwetting pull ups mileage may vary on those.
