I've been known to shill for this bag, the Tortuga. This is the V2, at $124 on Amazon. Their new version, The Outbreaker, is a bit pricier at $249, and I also haven't tried it.

I have the Kelty Redwing, good bag I like it, a bit big especially in the length but I've brought it onto planes no problem, had side pockets and elastic bottle pockets. If you want something more compact the Tortuga had side pockets that can hold bottles.
